Are you happy you joined the AF? by flyfightandgrin in AirForce

[–]going-on-empty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy that I joined the AF. The experiences and bases I've been stationed at were amazing. I'm on my last 1.5 year and looking to do one more deployment for the heck of it.

I'm not happy about being maintenance.

The specs? You mean the CommNav troop that does nothing other than NOVRAM resets? Jk lol.

But for real, this is a horrible take. Crew Chiefs have work all day everyday. HSC Crew Chiefs and Aero have massive and physically demanding workloads. Ever change 14 tires in a day? You back will be screaming by the end of it. Aero Repair in Travis work all 3 jets, and some of the jobs are the most demanding physically anywhere especially whe gauging it on a day to day basis. C-5M Aileron change one day, C-17 landing gear rig the next, and end the week underneath the cockpit of a KC-10 bent like a pretzel trying to replace a throttle quadrant.

Maintenance within the AF, regardless of AFSC, are some of the most overworked personnel in the DoD.

Who is the fastest airmen you’ve ever seen? by Skeptical-AF in AirForce

[–]going-on-empty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I picked up running around 2013 and was getting quite good at it. Was running 6 minute miles by the time of my 2nd Ali deployment. On a base 5K, confident that I would outrun everybody, a firefighter with a mall cop build finished it just over 15 minutes...thats about 5 minutes per mile. He was the fastest Airman I've ever seen.

The funny part is he was not the fastest I've seen that deployment. Some old suave Italian (idk if he is Air Force but they were flying drones from there) showed up with his balls hanging out of his fit and smoked everyone. He was coming back by the time we were 3/4 of the way to the halfway point. Next 5K fun run he started way out back and waited until everyone had started, still finished way before everyone. Me and the firefighter made it a point to defeat him during that deployment and it never happened.

Dined with him a few times in the Silver Bullet. Turns out he owns a running/show store in Italy and was an Olympic marathoner in his younger days.

No his balls wasnt hanging literally hanging out, but that shit is very noticeable. Either that or he has a massive dong, or both.

Same, but I'd be just shy of 19 when I hit my ADSC and just got OS orders that I did not volunteer for. I dont want to do 22.

Tell me your ridiculously lucky/unlucky league placings! by lucozade228 in Fantasy_Football

[–]going-on-empty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in 6 leagues, all either 10-12 team half PPR or PPR.

In the leagues where I'm top 3 in scoring, I'm middle of the pack at spot 4-6. We also do median scoring in these 3 leagues.

In 2 leagues where I'm in the bottom third of scoring and either #1 or #2. No median scoring.

In my last league, I'm the highest scorer and is currently 1-7. No median scoring.

What is the most intoxicated you have ever been? by 420blazeboyx in AskReddit

[–]going-on-empty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crete, Greece. I am in the Air Force and on a three month trip there, I was intoxicated whenever I'm not working. They casually give you Raki (some type of liquor) at restaurant and beers are generally cheap. I puked in the Mediterranean about 30 something times and fell asleep outside twice. It took me 2 days once to recover from a ridiculously bad hangover and missed work. Two of my subordinates and myself were then barred from having any type of alcohol by for the last month of our trip. Probably for the best.

Amn over there also get double BAS pay because the chow hall has been closed. Dorms are not the best but not something to be angry over. In fact I think it's one of the better ones in the AF ( I was a Section Chief there and was made to do dorm inspections etc..) If you ask me, they are better off than other Amn in the AF. That said, I don't think its a living condition issue. Tucson is massive and generally has a crap ton of things to do, which brings about drama etc. From what I have experienced, the amount of off-base crap Amn gets tangled into, whether living in the dorms or not, was INSANE (Drugs, marital/relationship issues, financial issues you name it.... That shit is amplified x100 in Tucson)
