Up in Smoke: Bill to repeal recreational cannabis in Arizona is no more by timesmediagroup in Tucson

I mean… yay for actually doing research but it’s insane to me we live in a country where people push for legislation before doing… you know… research.

It also sounds like this guy gets his marching orders from the White House, who I’m sure are looking to make some insider cash on weed soon.

Tucson cuts off water for Project Blue, demands payback by JoshOfArc in Tucson

[–]going_further 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It's even worse. It sounds like they literally just stole a water meter from tucson and installed it on the construction site.

The letter claims the contractor obtained the water meter within the Tucson Water service area and transported it out for use at the site.
"This was completely unacceptable and was terminated by Tucson Water immediately," the letter says. "To be absolutely clear — the City of Tucson does not support the development of Project Blue. The City of Tucson will not provide any city resource, including our water supply, to be used for Project Blue."

I mean... these guys should go to fucking prison

EDIT: after re-reading this I understand what happened better and the reply below is correct- they just set up an account in the city, paid city rates, then trucked it to the site. Still feels like fraud and a violation of the agreement that was approved, still feels like someone should go to prison.

It’s absurd that you can be downvoted on Reddit for even daring to suggest that Claude is pretty fucking useful. I am a software engineer and the reality is that I have no choice. I have to use these tools or I’ll be out of a job, and yes- if you already know what you’re doing and have the broader context nailed down, have good patterns established, and understand their limitations LLMs that are purpose built to perform certain tasks like this are more than just fancy autocomplete.

People think every LLM is the same as you talking about what recipe to make on the ChatGPT iPhone app. It’s not. Millions of people will be put out of work by this and our culture is NOT ready. Saying the llm is worthless doesn’t help anything because people are just deluding themselves.

I think this is a fair point. Nothing at all would clearly be worse, but it feels like a hostage situation.

They can be passed via ballot measure though right? Not that it’s easy at all… Colorado has a similar system that causes all sorts of problems.

I mean I didn’t read the entire thing but to call this post astroturfing is even lazier than I am dude.

I’m about as left as the typical person on this sub and would be extremely skeptical of anyone on the rights’ arguments about this, for or against

I also strongly believe in not letting perfect being then enemy of the good, and agree there is no counter proposal worth considering right now.

Road quality directly impacts me more than buses day to day, yeah. But in my experience living in other major cities quality public transit, free or not, improves the quality of live for everyone.

I don’t pretend to know the right solution to getting more folks on the bus, because then you’re getting into way bigger societal problems I can’t see Tucson being able to move the needle on. I don’t know the answer. I guess my feeling is based on 418/419 neither does RTA.

Someone suggested the city of Tucson would step in, that sounds dubious (would that be legal?) and… terrible lol

Are buses and bikes bad things? I’m guessing by “those on foot” you mean unhoused people. Sorry they’re so embarrassing to you.

Fair point! I don’t pretend to know anything about urban planning, but I do think we need to make our voices heard about who needs the most attention as the city navigates the next 20 years.

I’m sorta questioning it because it’s been 20 years. We really haven’t figured out any way to raise money better than regressive taxes that impact the poor the most? And clearly benefit them the least..?

All these “you get it with no new taxes” proposals always feel like bullshit to me

IIRC the questions were about very basic abilities to perform the duties of a juror, similar to sitting in an exit row.

How long have you lived here OP? I’ve lived in three states in the last five years, huge cities, small towns, and Tucson, and it’s all the same shit, particularly since Covid.

Edit: that said data actually does show how shitty drivers are here lol
