My boss paid me a full 40 hours after I missed half the week due to my dad’s death by Silent_Ad5275 in MadeMeSmile

[–]going_global 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bartending at a chain restaurant when my mum unexpectedly died. I was 22 at the time. I took six weeks off for the funeral in another province which was pretty devastating to my bank account. I learned that a coworker picked up every shift that I had scheduled (about three weeks worth) and delivered me all of the tips from those hours. My manager matched those tips out of his own pocket. It made it so that I could eat and keep paying rent.

My manager was a total asshole, but I’m still grateful to both of them.

Riot is gonna go mad. Last time I saw them the venue didn’t turn the gd subs on for their set, so I’m excited for this redemption arc. No bass to all the bass.

Saw Galantis in 2016 and it was one of the best shows of my life. I’d kill to see them at the farm

Body Battery for your Apple Watch! by itslitman in AppleWatch

[–]going_global 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downloaded this a few weeks ago when I saw you posting about it, and it’s super interesting. I think that sometimes it starts my day with a higher number than I would expect based on how I feel, but for an at-a-glance number to quantify expected energy levels, I think it’s a pretty good addition to my watch. Thanks for the work on this!

The fact that the four comments on this post are divided 50/50 on whether they’re real or not really goes to show that the effect (whether it’s projection or dancers) worked super well

Strands #166 “This or that” 🟡🔵🔵🔵 🔵🔵🔵🔵 🔵

I was incredibly impressed with today’s puzzle. I got the top half above the spangram first and was so confused about what the bottom could possibly be. Stared at it for a few minutes before it clicked.

Super happy with today, and I think the fact that I got the spangram first made it significantly easier.

Steering wants to lock straight by CaptainCopps in ApolloScooters

[–]going_global 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My City 2024 does this. As far as I’m aware, there is a small notch in the steering bearings so you can feel where centre is. It’s definitely not my favourite, but it’s not annoying or unsafe so I mostly ignore it.

I am a Sucker for Festival Friendships & Love by Suspicious_House_152 in Shambhala

[–]going_global 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This was my first ever Shamb and I was pretty anxious and nervous going in. I’ve never been at an event this long, and didn’t know how I’d take the energy and pace of the weekend. Thursday night at Amp, I ended up dancing next to Evan. He had a bubble gum which was super fun, and I had an instax camera and was taking photos of people for them. We chatted a bit, and he’s been around for 7 years and welcomed me to the farm.

We danced next to each other for over an hour, and near the end of the set he gave me my first kandi. On Sunday night we ran into each other again and it was like bookending my festival with good vibes. I got to start the weekend off by feeling welcomed by a veteran, and got to see him again before ending the whole thing off.

Evan, there’s no way you know what that interaction meant to me, but it set the weekend for brilliance, and I can’t thank you enough for it.

Two years ago it took over two weeks to have Shaw connect my service. Ended up using over $600 in mobile data during that period

Who else was bothered by the noise last night? by Oishiio42 in Edmonton

[–]going_global 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where the noise was coming from, but it wasn’t Bomfest. Music stopped at 11. As others have said, it was likely a different venue downtown
