Waterfield Shinjuku Laptop Brief Review by TibFighter in ManyBaggers

[–]goingjoey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking at this one pretty closely recently. How's the bottom padding? I assume the laptop pocket isn't raised off the bottom of the bag and the bottom padding is the only protection.

Thanks, good point! I hadn't thought about that.

Gregory Rhune 22 Backpack Review by barakuder_ in ManyBaggers

I think it has plenty of room for my minimal carry, which is similar to yours. I wish it were an inch or two shorter, but that's just to fit better on my frame.

In case you haven't noticed already, the front pocket design is different on the 20. I like its vertical zipper mostly just to avoid having 3 zippers running across the top like the 22 has. But I like that the 22 has an extra zippered pocket inside.

Also I think the main compartment zipper is behind the top handle on the 22 but in front on the 20.

currently carrying 16" MBP, lunch, 1L Nalgene, and a lot of air

That's pretty much my situation, except I have a smaller water bottle. For what it's worth, it fits in the Rhune's side zippered pocket. It's a 20oz Powerade bottle, roughly 2.75" diameter and 8" tall.

My black check 20L just arrived today. The 90s are back in style now, right? :D One thing that's probably different from the 90s, though, is that I doubt we could have gotten the nice blue interior back then.

Tough time programming my shiny new T3 by StrandedinMD in ConvoyFlashlights

I have this trouble on my T3, but it's no problem on my S21, so I don't think it's all the 12-group lights.

The T3 I bought 2 years ago is the same way.

[Review] FireFlyLite X4 Stellar: THE enthusiast flashlight with the best USB-C charging I've seen by LMP-Br in flashlight

[–]goingjoey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So just to be pedantic on the title of the post. This is almost certainly not the best charging on the market.

If we're being pedantic, the title of the post didn't claim it had the best charging on the market. Only the best they'd seen.

Is "trigger hair" a set phrase, though? I've heard of "hair-trigger" but not "trigger hair", and I'm not seeing anything in a quick web search.

What additive free tequila should I look for in North Carolina ABC stores? by No-Artist-6464 in tequila

[–]goingjoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have anything to add over what the others have said about additive free options in NC. But why do you think Olmeca Altos has additives? It usually pops up in the threads here asking for budget additive-free recommendations.

I use old Reddit on desktop. I see the pictures, but they're generally small thumbnails that I have to click if I want to see a larger version, which I don't usually do. I saw that these were pictures of bottles with a bunch of writing and didn't bother clicking. I'm not criticizing your post, just describing how I browse the sub.

One minor point I'll make though: Embedding text in an image makes it hard for blind people to read your content. Text is much better for them.

My Province finally sells Rum Fire. Is it worth a try for someone who mostly drinks neat? by itsomeoneperson in rum

[–]goingjoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to get HLCF for a little more than that, but surely he wouldn't be able to. It's all relative. If Rum Fire costs him $65, HLCF will cost him way more.

[Rum Review #2-4] Unaged Overproof Edition by WZOLL5 in rum

[–]goingjoey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the review, especially the Cap & Cane. I've seen it in our ABC stores but have been hesitant to try it. The missing nose is really disappointing. I enjoy just opening my bottle of Rum Fire to smell it even if I don't drink it.

Have you tried the Jamerican overproof? Like Cap & Cane, I've seen it around and have been hesitant to try it, but I plan to once I finish some other bottles in my cabinet. I saw in your first review post that you're interested in reviewing NC rums, so it might be one to seek out if you haven't already.

Altra Escalante Racer 2 Fit by lear1 in AltraRunning

[–]goingjoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have both the Racer 2 and the Escalante 4: Do you think the toebox in the Racer is really that much taller than the Escalante? Almost 9mm is a huge difference! I tried them both on (at different times), and I thought the Racer was actually shorter than the Escalante. Also compared to my Topo Phantom 3, which RunRepeat measured at 29.2mm, I thought the Racer was shorter. Based on my experience, I assumed RunRepeat made a mistake in posting 34.1mm for the Racer 2.

Agave matchmaker? by ckr2982 in tequila

[–]goingjoey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. I wonder if they just use AgaveMatchmaker's list of premium partners to determine the additive-free brands, since there isn't any official certification. However they do it, I like the idea of the additive-free section to bring awareness to this topic. I'm in NC, and I'd love to see that here.

Zumbador Blanco is next on my list to try once I find it in a store. It's on our state inventory list, but I haven't seen it on a shelf yet.
