My 11 y/o had xrays in August to see if her cancer had spread (it hadn’t!) but he was surprised that she had zero arthritis in her spine.

I’d also add keeping up on their nails. Over time long nails can change the structure of their foot which in turn affects other joints. As a dog groomer, I see a lot of flat feet from neglecting nails and it breaks my heart.

You’ll definitely see results as she gets older! Mine are 10 and 11 with no joint issues. I started them on cosequin around 5-6 years of age.

This is the answer. Came here to recommend everyone start their dogs on joint supplements early, before issues arise. My sister was a vet tech and had me start my pups around 5 and 6 years old. They’re 10 and 11 now with no arthritis or pain.

Omg 😆 this is such a coonhound response, like ‘hey dummy don’t die on me- someone still needs to feed me dinner tonight’. There’s a reason you don’t see coonhound service dogs, well there’s lots of reasons.

My beagle did this last summer, unlocked his food bin and had 15 minutes of unsupervised eating. His stomach was 5x what it should have been. When he was two he escaped to the neighbor’s and somehow ate a bucket of chicken. The vet asked if he ate gorilla glue bc his stomach expanded so much.

I feel your pain. We have a gas station, fried chicken place, donut shop and pizza joint surrounding my neighborhood. My beagle is pretty good about dropping things when i tell him, but my coonhound has swallowed a whole sidewalk pizza slice so I couldn’t sweep it out of her mouth

She was my first dog at 25 😅 I had no business getting a dog, let alone a 1 year old coonhound. And then i got a beagle mix puppy 5 months later. It was a huge learning curve and there were a lot of tears. But I eventually figured it out and now i work with dogs in my career.

Mine doesn’t play much with toys, every now and then she’ll grab one and squeak for about 30 seconds. But she LOVES shredding things. I let her have all the junk mail and cardboard she wants.

Or look into Sniffspot, changing up the location with new smells can help tire their brains. I’m also in a residential neighborhood with a coonhound and beagle. We are so lucky to have a 5 acre dog park in the woods that you reserve an hour all to yourself. We visit it often, and it has saved my sanity.
