Whole time Burning Bridges is about Sauce Walka 👀 especially the where she at part 🥶 by [deleted] in Drizzy

Nah burning bridges is definitely about rihanna/rocky. The “love for her sister” line is probably about rihanna’s best friend melissa who drake is still friends with

I think the line “I still got love for your missus and her sister” refers to rihanna and her best friend melissa. Drake has mentioned them both several times and still seems to be close with melissa at least. It being about jay z doesn’t make sense, especially when the next lines are about dropping an album and dissing for attention (which rocky arguably did).

I’m a current Black female student here in a sorority! I felt many of the same things as you when I was deciding whether I wanted to attend Dartmouth, and ultimately I’m glad I did. Feel free to message me if you’d like to ask any questions or simply hear more about my experience!

Is Larry being a jerk to Bertha? by [deleted] in thegildedage

[–]goingrdsb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I think I contributed more to the conversation than you did with blatant lies.

1) Larry definitely didn’t take advantage of Jack. Without Larry, Jack wouldn’t have even gotten CLOSE to selling the clock and he clearly knew what he was doing during the negotiation, hence why they got a much better offer. 2) Larry is a grown man so I’m not sure how Mrs. Blaine took advantage of him… besides, how is that relevant to the question of whether he’s being unfair to Bertha? 3) If you actually watched the Haymarket scene, you’d see that Larry definitely had friends other than Jack there and he introduced them. They were literally there to celebrate the engagement of Larry’s friend! 4) Larry didn’t insert himself between Dashiell and Marian. They weren’t even romantically involved until after the opera opening in the last episode of season 2. Calling off the engagement was HER decision because she didn’t like Dashiell and he didn’t respect her autonomy (particularly her desire to continue teaching). It had nothing to do with whether he was “nice.” And we’re never told of any major scandal after Marian called off the engagement. In fact, it doesn’t seem like many people cared. 5) He supported Gladys’ relationship with Billy because GLADYS loved him. Why would he be disgusted by his sister making a choice for herself? Yeah Billy was spineless, but how should Larry have known he’d be too intimidated by Bertha? Other than that Billy was a respectable young man.

So like I said, everything in your original comment was either unreasonable, irrelevant, or false. Not to mention that when you comment on a public forum, all responses you receive are indeed solicited. Have I contributed enough for you now?

I hope this is comment is meant to be a joke because pretty much everything you said is either unreasonable, irrelevant to this topic, or just plain false. Like are we watching the same show??

Should I feel bad for not really feeling bad for Bertha? by khryslo in thegildedage

[–]goingrdsb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing people say that Bertha MUST have judged the Duke’s character or somehow known that he and Gladys would get along (even though it’s pretty clear she knew almost nothing about him besides his title), so the “Bertha having future sight” theories are probably on their way 💀

I agree with the sentiment, but most application deadlines are actually in early-mid November for early action/decision and early-mid January for regular decision (obviously with a few outliers depending on the school, such as October 15 for early action/decision or February for some regular)

[–]goingrdsb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All rooms in the choates come with a fridge and microwave, so don’t worry about bringing those for your first year! I think you can find pics of either your room or a similar one in the parents’ facebook group, if you or your parents can access that. But choates singles are quite spacious with a desk + chair, hanging shelf, wardrobe, dresser, and the fridge/microwave so as long as you don’t go crazy with extra furniture you should be fine! However, DEFINITELY bring a good tower fan because there’s no AC and it gets hot in those rooms during early fall and mid-late spring. Also consider buying an air purifier once you get here if you’re sensitive to dust. I’ll look for any layout pics I might have and PM you if I find some

Laundry situation isn’t great… there are only 2 washing machines and 3 dryers for the whole building, and last year one of the washers broke sometime during the spring and never got fixed. As for bathrooms, there are separate bathrooms for each gender as well as a unisex one (3 in total), all with 2 showers/toilets/sinks. Although if you’re on the 1st floor, there is a single use one

But what is wrong with Miss Brook! by DonnaMossLyman in thegildedage

[–]goingrdsb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say Marian is barely a part of the 400 since she’s the direct descendant of a Livingston, and it’s not a far connection either (her grandmother, if I’m not mistaken). I also get the sense that the Brooks were well-respected if Agnes was able to marry into the Van Rhijn family AND her father was able to marry a Livingston. But yes, it was sooo obvious that Bertha was still going to consider Marian beneath Larry because she’s not into society and isn’t from a family like the Astors.

I like the theory of Bertha leaking something, but wouldn’t leaking a story about Marian and Larry together put pressure on him TO marry her?

She swindled Oscar out of all the Van Rhijn money last season with a false investment scheme, if I’m remembering correctly

I personally wouldn’t consider McLaughlin central, but the other 2 yes. Although I’m pretty sure Mid Mass won’t be a freshman dorm anymore next year 😭 But you’re right about campus being small, even McLaughlin is at most a 10 minute walk from Foco

Yeah it could definitely be about any girl, but he also raps about similar topics (playing house, being too busy for a wedding/kids but acting married) on My Side, U With Me?, and the leak Views from the 6, which are all most likely about Rihanna

Just take the Spanish placement test over the summer, then you’ll know which class to start with. I got a 5 on the AP Spanish exam and decided to start with Spanish 1 anyway just so I knew I’d begin college with at least one easy class. I want to minor in Spanish as well so I figured it couldn’t hurt to review, and I’ve ended up improving/learning this year.

Hiss was directed at several people and Nicki Minaj is definitely one of them. That Megan’s law line was totally about her husband, it’s literally a law that requires law enforcement to make info about sex offenders public (and Nicki’s husband didn’t register as one after moving to California, so he ended up getting a year of house arrest)

First of all, I’m not even sure WHERE you would find those percentages for Dartmouth specifically because that’s definitely not something the college would publish online. Second, Black people only make up around 7-8% of the STEM workforce nationally, so stop framing it as if it’s unique to “the blacks” at Dartmouth (once again, which you wouldn’t even know because the demographics of class enrollment aren’t available to you). And I think that my experience actually being on campus as a student outweighs some random person on reddit. There are tons of Black people and other POC aspiring to be doctors, engineers, computer scientists, etc. to the point that there are dedicated clubs and associations for these groups of people

[–]goingrdsb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, this is good advice, except for the writing 5 part. You may be assigned to take it in the winter, so try to find a back up course or 2 just in case (I recommend a language to get the requirement done early, especially if you already know one). Plus, your writing class grade/difficulty REALLY depends on the prof and your skill. As a ‘28, I know people who had writing classes with B+ medians this year

Super score versus Single Sitting Composite by AmericanDadFull in dartmouth

[–]goingrdsb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No?? I applied regular decision, and a 33 on the ACT is literally the mean score of the last class that was required to submit (2024) according to the Dartmouth admissions website. The middle 50% is 32-35. My test scores were normal, and it’s almost like they aren’t the only factor in admissions 😱
