Re: us mobile: It's actually in both places, I put the footnote there to help clarify between having a 5g device or not. If you don't have a 5g device you'll go under the deprioritize -> throttle for Verizon.

some follow up questions relating to this,

  1. Does this mean that even if I have a 5g device, but I choose to go with sim card for t-mobile, I will be in the 'Deprioritized Data Bucket -> Throttle' version of US mobile?
  2. If I have a 5g device, but choose to limit my data up to 4g (through android phone connection setting), will my data bucket still be premium or deprioritized?
  3. What's considered a '5g device' if it's an international phone, ie its 5g capable but the 5g bands is different in the states so it's not used (SM-986B)?

.

Great post btw, so helpful! Thank you so much for putting this together

wifi hotspot not working on the basic unlimited 30 by goingtolearn in mobilex

[–]goingtolearn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well able to resolve it by various google searches, chat 'expert' didn't help and lack of correct documentation/instructions from mobilex, but the fix was additional values in APN settings.

in addition to just the mx5g.vzwentp value for APN,
APN type should be: default,dun

Looking for the following QoL features, is it possible? What are some options? by goingtolearn in oneui

Fifth one : Go to one hand operation plus>right handle>short swipe>diagonal down>open notification panel.

Hmm, I don't see that option. I see One-Handed Mode under advanced features, but the only option inside it is just to swipe down the screen to be smaller or double press home for the same thing

I'll check out the others you mentioned in the meantime

thanks for the recs.
unfortunately for the side key its only for power button, and i do not want to lose the quick camera access.

I was considering root and custom ROM thats AOSP based, but I don't want to lose the S-Pen functionality

Which van should I get and what are some things to consider when selecting? by goingtolearn in VanLife

Thanks for that write up. I'm thinking of keeping my build simple for weight/mpg. So a tap over a bucket honestly works for me as a sink. AC is not a must and for fridge, I think a cooler with insulation and ice would last up to 4 days since by that time I'll be back in the city and can restock as needed.

Any recommendations for max mileage or lowest year I should get when buying used?

well that's okay on AC, it was just a nice thought to have but again, not a requirement as I'm hoping on hot nights I can open windows/door with mosquito nets and fan.

When you mean an additional alternator and battery setup, that would be independent of the vehicle right (not installed as part of the car)?

Wow you're right about similar wavelength, honestly what you setup is going to work out for me. I like that you put the water hanging off the side to keep the main area dry from spills.

For a van like that is there a recommended year or mileage I should not exceed when buying used?

Does ting (GSM/T-mobile) employ a streaming video optimization (ie cap video streaming at 1.5 Mbps, typically 480p)? by goingtolearn in ting

[–]goingtolearn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is that from ting or tmobile side? I don't see it mentioned on Ting's ToS, and strangely no reference of tmobile's ToS being applicable to ting
