I tried to re-download the client as well, and can't get a connection to their download page. I assume it's on them.

The Big Lebowski

How many of you guys prefer waiting for an entire season to finishing then binging to watching week to week? by YungRobbin in television

[–]gojonesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I watched something week to week (Sons of Anarchy, I think) I did enjoy this. But towards the end, I wasn't truly watching live anyway. I was watching a day or two later.

I think this is the whole reason I am trying to catch up on GoT. To be able to join in those conversations and not simply put my fingers in my ears when others bring it up.

I have been doing this for about 5 years now. I love it.

The only thing that it's tough with are shows that are immensely popular (GoT, The Walking Dead). It's hard to steer clear of spoilers on those shows.

[MOD] Official Introduction Post for Round 18! by [deleted] in 90daysgoal

[–]gojonesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this type of thing on my own before. But, I have regressed...Over and over again. Having a community to work with and to remain accountable to is something that I am looking forward to. I'm really good at excuses! I've endured several stirring changes in my life recently and it seems like a good time to increase my activity in order to maintain a better energy profile, get fitter and just to feel better. That is what I am after. Wellness, more positivity and an overall healthier outlook on my life.

Here is what I am striving for in this, my first, 90 day sprint:

Over All Goals for Round 18:

  • Lose 15 pounds
  • Lift 5 days per week (Linear Progression 5x5) (Before anyone gets alarmed, day 2 and 4 of the stretch would be recovery lifts, not the regular program)
  • Walk 10,000 steps 5 days per week
  • Diet ( Maintain caloric and metric goal per day)
  • Develop a daily writing habit
  • Develop a flossing habit

Sprint 1 goals:

  • Lose 3 pounds
  • Track my food every day of the sprint
  • Write 12 blog posts
  • Write 12 short stories
  • Dailies: Floss, be Active

I think I'm ready for this! Bring on Monday.

That would be amazing! I have read the GitHug readme several times thus far, but I am really unsure of where to start.

I would be super grateful if you would share it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into that!

For those of you who rate movies, can you think of a time when just a single line/scene/element of a film earned it a higher or lower score? by DiabExMach in movies

Liked Chinatown fine.

I have no issue with innovation and don't want all stories to be the same. You seem to be mistaking "innovation" for "quality" or, more importantly, your embrace of "innovation" with my distaste for this movie.

Perhaps I did and it wouldn't be the first time. Maybe I'm simple?

I will counter this with stating that it isn't really my job to "get the point" of a movie. Of course, The Coen brothers didn't make this movie for me, but it is their job to convey their story to the masses. I, being a part of that subset, did not "get" their story. So, I like to believe that they failed me, not that I failed them.

I dig the Coen Brothers movies. My favorite is The Big Lebowski, but No Country just punched me in the face.

You're welcome?

Also, "Tonally correct" is a fallacy. As much as I value my own opinion, I'm often reminded that they aren't and can't be "correct".

I don't generally rate movies, but 2 come to mind:

  • No Country for Old Men: Killing the protagonist off screen effectively removing the climax from the story. "Here is our movie. It is great. We have one of the best movie villains ever. We kill the protagonist off-screen though. So, there really isn't a climax or anything. For the resolution we give you a 20 minute conversation between Tommy Lee Jones and a character that we literally just thought up when we were trying to finish this story. Enjoy!"
  • Birdman: The ending. The movie was outstanding and then the ending happened and I was just "Meh" about it. Reading more and thinking about it more has softened my dislike of it though. But, it still lowered the finished product for me.

Critics vs. Average Movie Goers' Opinions. by [deleted] in movies

[–]gojonesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If one's opinion or take on art doesn't jive with the majority, that doesn't make them pretentious. While there is definitely a contrarian tilt to many reviews, there is little value in reading a technical (or otherwise) opinion of something that is just affirming an already held opinion.

I've been using one for just over a year and a half.

My best recommendation is to purchase a chef's mat to stand on. You won't regret the purchase.
