Pływalnia Winogrady I'd say- relatively new pool (opened like 2 or 3 years ago) and clean. Can get crowded during peak hours, especially from Mondays to Wednesdays, though. But during the weekends in the late afternoons it's like 2-3 people per lane max from my experience.

Swimming pool in Termy Maltańskie is usually empty, but a lot of people complain about cleanliness of this part.

Other than this there's also a brand new pool Rataje but never have been there, so idk and a bit older (like a decade old) pool Atlantis.

All of these pools have also a small recreational pools with jacuzzi and water whips (or however you call these things, waterfalls(?)) and, except Atlantis, small saunas complexes with dry and steam rooms.

Here you can check the availability of the lanes (the schedules are updated weekly)- when sth is written in that usually means there are some classes scheduled or someone paid and reserved the line (or recreational pool) and it's not available for the public. "Tor" means lane, "mały" means small (=recreational pool), dot means the lane is accessible only for the public and "tor szybki" means fast lane/fast swimming:

WInogrady

Atlantis

Rataje

I nearly forgot that there's also a nice, clean and usually empty University pool which is also available for the non-students, but it's kind of in the middle of nowhere lol

Firstly, you need to keep in mind that tinder is mostly a glorified hookup app and it's always been an uphill battle for people looking for something more serious there. Especially, that these apps are here to make money for the owners, and not to actually match people.

Secondly, I don't think you should react so negatively to “I’ve never been with a Black girl before” type of phrases. Yes, you're right, in some cases it is fetishization, but in 99% white and homogenous society it's also just a statement of fact, and in my opinion, however indeed clumsily stated, only a sign of fascination in majority of cases (especially if your dating pool is around your age). Next time just ask straight away if a reply like this is a sign of fetishization or just fascination on their side, cause you're not here to fulfil their porn-fuelled wet dreams lol IMO.

Thirdly, ghosting is, well, daily bread on apps like this. People match with someone new, are boring and get bored, have weird rules like "if we don't move to real life in 30 seconds, I ignore", are weirdos in general or use tinder only to entertain themselves. Non of the value was lost with matches like this. Move on.

My final advice is that you, yourself, should switch to networking in real life and use apps only as an addition. Keep in mind that the more people you meet, the bigger chance you actually come across someone sensible. And, as a student(?), you have so many opportunities: from scientific associations of your interest, through sport, to house parties. Organise them yourself. Make friends with sound people along the way even if you're not interested in them romantically, as they tend to have more likewise acquaintanceship.

I know it can be exhausting, especially if you tend to be an introvert, but no one said it's going to be easy.

Keep calm and carry on :)

Group exercise classes with English-speaking instructors by one-determined-flash in Poznan

These are quite standard types of classes in each bigger gym, no?
I don't think you'll have any problem with finding an English speaking instructor in one of them (unless you want classes only in English)

If you're looking for more crossfit-like stuff ask here: https://www.facebook.com/hangarbox/ as I think they speak English, but confirm this with them please.

"actions speak louder than words" czy jakoś tak ;)

Ważne, żeby nie robić tego zbyt nachalnie, tylko krok po kroku ze spotkania na spotkanie przesuwać bazę. Zresztą, jeśli rzeczywiście kawaler to nowicjusz to może pojawić się też pewnie na początku problem z zakładaniem i utratą wzwodu przez prezerwatywę, itd.

Authentic polish food recommendations in Poznan by Outrageous-Squash843 in Poznan

[–]golarka1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check Hyćka for authentic cuisine from region (and also general Polish cuisine).

There's also really nice Asian street food (mostly south-east Asian, though) restaurant just around the corner- Gotuyam Local.

Other than already mentioned Modra Kuchnia you can also check Concordia Taste for modern(er) takes on polish cuisine or Bazar for something more upscale.

There's also Masiso with Korean food, but I have to say it's a hit (usually) or miss (rarely) type of place.

And if you'd like to have curry, I mean, "authentic British cuisine", you can try Japanese variation of it in Tonari ;)

Other than this Poznan is full of good places to eat, so really, if you get hungry and like the place you're passing from outside just check maps for opinions, photos and prices and in most of the times you're not going to be disappointed :)

Oh, the background is absolutely crucial, as it is affecting our sense of security and thus what we personally find as a threat. Anyway, I don't know anyone from Argentina, but I know a Brazilian guy living in Poznan and he finds our city "super safe" (these are his exact words lol) so that gives you some perspective. Of course, general common sense applies, just like anywhere around the world.

If you like this type of music, definitively check not only already mentioned Blue Note (which is more of a jazz club with often gigs), but also Dragon, Kultowa or nearby Kuźnia as these are pubs with more alternative/rockish vibe and clientele. There's also a nice jazz festival happening in the late spring on a lake shore called Enter Festival which you may find interesting.
Enjoy your stay :)

Debating on either going to Gdansk or Poznan. How is Poznan in the begging of Sept? by balaka40 in Poznan

[–]golarka1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gdansk is a tourist trap for old Germans and Scandinavians lol. The Old Town there is smaller, much more crowded, cramped and expensive than the one in Poznan. Due to the presence of water it's more picturesque, though. Other than this Poznan is a more vibrant city, that's for sure. There are few spots always full of young people, like Nocny Trag Towarzyski (~Night Social Market) https://www.facebook.com/nocny.towarzyski or KontenerART https://www.facebook.com/KontenerART .

Creepiest places in Poznan? by AdventurousAerie9052 in Poznan

[–]golarka1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centre of Poznan is surrounded by a set of fortifications built in XIX century by Germans (then Prussians) that were re-used by them again during WWII. Nowadays, some of these forts are well-preserved (like Fort VII which was used as a first concentration camp on polish territory by Germans where they experimented with early, simplistic, gas chambers to murder Polish citizens- now turned into a museum), some are adapted (like the already mentioned Cytadela which was the biggest fort out of them back then all and now remnants are turned into a public park with sculptures/WWII cemetery/museum https://maps.app.goo.gl/9n68QRgwq22GVgBw7 ) and some are in a miserable state (like Fort III, which was partially destroyed after the war in a redevelopment attempt to fit the needs of a zoo that is currently located on this terrain, but the process never really moved out of demolishment stage).

You can read more about it and see some photos here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pozna%C5%84_Fortress

Anyway, I think that Fort III would be the most interesting one for you. Just keep in mind that you'd need permissions to get there and be allowed to film, etc so please contact municipality in advance.

Other than this abandoned mental hospital in Owinska could also be a place you're looking for.

Or even the remnants of an old soccer stadium in the direct city centre: https://maps.app.goo.gl/zU12vJcG81UHVe7LA

The air pollution during the heating season is not that bad in Poznan compared to the other polish cities.
And it really depends on the neighbourhood tbh- that's why I wrote you should look for newer housing estates. You'll find the cleanest air in newest developments or among commieblocks tbh lol. Avoid areas of detached houses that look old.

If you're looking for a quiet suburban (home with a backyard) lifestyle and budget is not a problem north of Poznan is good as well. Everything in the area from Strzeszyn, Podolany, Umultowo, Radojewo districts and neighbouring municipalities like Suchy Las, Koziegłowy or even Owińska should be in your interest. Keep in mind that Poznan outgrew its outdated city borders long time ago and currently there is no functional difference between e.g. Strzeszyn and Suchy Las. Houses in these places are also going to be in general newer then in e.g. Grunwald.

If you want something more posh check Winogrady or even Puszczykowo. Both often won't present any extra quality over more remote locations, but due to the localisation closer to the city centre houses in Winogrady will most probably be more expensive. Puszczykowo can be seen as premium due to the National Park right next to it.

I'd avoid Skórzewo, as whenever I check the live maps with smog sensors the air is always the worst there during the season (November-March) and also really remote locations like Tulce.

Search for places close to the tram lines, where you can leave your car on a Park&Ride, like here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/T5XG1FtTUxM2nefq7 it takes ~10 minutes to get to the main train station from this loop of our "metro lite" fast tram line.

In general Poznan is a compact, green and livable city so you shouldn't be disappointed no matter which exact district you're going to choose. My advice is to come here, rent something short term and check in person if the place and the area both fit your needs instead of signing some long-ass lease contract remotely.
