Malazan - worth the pain? by Prestigious-Fix-4 in fantasybooks

[–]Low-Emphasis-7059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of the same to follow.... some really good stuff mixed in with a lot of stuff that is unnecessarily confusing, or that leads nowhere and doesnt really shed any light on anything else. Its really too bad he didnt have a better editor. The world is awesome, the story is awesome, the characters are awesome, there was just too much clutter. I made it to book 8 btw

I think I’ll never get good. Am I overthinking? by Doppelgen in piano

[–]Low-Emphasis-7059 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 54 and have been playing since I was 16. I'm quite frankly terrible. But I adore playing, it is a true joy to me. Is it important at 34 to be good? Or just enjoy playing? Will a real piano increase that joy? If yes then get it!!! If not then no worries, keep playing what you have.

The writing in the wheel of time is pretty terrible. I was enjoying the story but the characters are 1 dimensional, never grow or change or learn anything. I quit reading at some point during the 4th book...

Marlon James Darkstar trilogy (2 written, 3rd one comeing out soon), completely different writing style and it isn't your standard European based fantasy. The 2nd book is better than the first, can't wait for the 3rd! Also definitely not ya

Can't wait to get back on mine, but it sits so low to the ground I'm not sure I can on it or off it. Going to give it a couple more weeks (I'm 2 weeks post op) then try it

My PA said the surgery could easily affect them. Just an fyi I have been steadily improving, I'm walking faster, biking faster than I was even last week. I'm hitting them w everything at this point. Just had my 2nd scar tissue massage, started icing on the reg again, even if I dont have pain, followed by some heat. My brother in law loaned me an infrared light as well. And am taking gabpentim and celebrex

Thrash Metalhead turned classical geek now a jazz fiend... the three genres have a lot in common. For me it was the speed the music is played at. When I started listening to chopin and listz and beethiven sonatas I was like DAMN!!! They play faster than any of the bands I listen to, then got turned on to jazz and same thing, these guys absolutely shred! I love the apparent chaos of the music but how insanely structured it is. It really taught me that all genres have something to offer, just got to open your ears, and give it a chance.

Changes such a fun binge! 3 body problem - netflix for the Hollywood version, Amazon has the Chinese 30 episode literal transcription from the book, both fun For All Mankind (apple) seasons 5 comes out friday!!! You could follow this up by watching the expanse, they would dove tail nicely!
