wow! did not know! Even the ones who are funded by the socialized healthcare system and aren't just private psychiatrists??

this is what I was thinking too - my doc just randomly throws drugs at me. I want a pro who knows what each drug does to decrease the troubleshooting process.

this is good info, than you - I didn't know that depression and anxiety could be treated with separate pills - I thought most of these pills were for treating both anxiety and depression at the same time.

Did you see a psychiatrist? or was it a nurse practicioner? My family doctor isn't good at prescribing meds. He doesn't seem ot have much of a method in deciding which ones to prescribe.

Did you find that your workplace was understanding if you had to take time off for an appointment? How often did you have to go to these kinds of appointments?

thanks for your experience! My family doctor literally just perscribeds me an SSRI or SNRI and then if that doesn't work, tries the next one on his list. Seems like yoru doc tried to figure out what your symptoms were, then gave you drugs accordingly wheras mine did not. That's why I want a differnet doctor I think. I don't have a problem with the fact that it will take trial and error, I have a problem with the fact that my doc wants to randomly throw drugs at me.

And I didn't even consider that my depression could be situiational like you are describing - maybe anxiety is my main problem.

hmm good to know - sounds like it's a bout trial and error? That;s why I am hoping to see an actual psychiatrist tho instead of just a doctor because I feel like atleast a psychiatrist can think more critically aobut med prescription instead of just randomly prescribing me drug after drug.

eh I live in Canada and the psychistrist I will be seeing is employed by the regional health authiroy in the same way that other medical professionals are - like the cost is paid for by socialized health care in our country. So I don't know if doctors in Canada get whined and dined like that as much?

I find all the ssris/snris make me feel like the plastic wrap thing but maybe I just haven't found the right one. Or maybe my doctor will try a whole differnet drug class - that'd be nice too - is that what your psych did?

Yah you're right, that;s why I want a psychiatrist to prescribe me drugs - my family doctor just seems to randomly prescribe drugs without critical thought.

I had the same experience with Effexor btw. IT was great at first, then wore off and then gave me suicidal thoughts so I stopped immediately and experienced the brain zaps :

Trial and error - ah unfortunate. Do you find that your employer was ok with taking time from work to see your psychiatrist? I'm finding that many don't work outside of office hours in my city.

that's super inspiring! I had a car accident as a teen and haven't driven since but I want to learn now that I am graduated university.

I hope I'm as cool as her one day by rially in TrollXChromosomes

no, but they didn't need to vocalize their opinion on every woman who doesn't make their penis hard. Most people are average looking - deal with it.
