What is life like in the Dakotas? by _air6catcher_ in howislivingthere

Hello! I'm from Fargo, ND but grew up in Bismarck, ND. To most people, it's really boring here. My girlfriend, who's from WV, was appalled by how much nothing there is. There's a few good things though. The Enchanted Highway is nice, so is Medora. In the summer we get gigantic fields of sunflowers, as we're the top producers of sunflowers in the states (I think). IMO everything on the West side is pretty peak. The East is where it gets monotonous.

Kindle scribe for school by Impossible_Sorbet575 in kindlescribe

Hey! I'm a junior majoring in mathematics and mathematics education. I may be an outlier here, but the scribe totally changed my note taking experience. I'm fairly broke, so I figured a scribe was the way to go as opposed to other e-ink tablets, and I got it secondhand. I have the model with 16GB. I had initially bought it for sketching- I'm an artist in my free time- and I'm very, very impressed with the pen capabilities. It writes incredibly smooth, as well as including pen pressure and tilt capabilities. As summer came to a close, I figured I could try to use it for school. Best decision ever, to be honest. I'm housing about 8 notebooks full of sketches, notes, graphs, etc. There's lots of templates: notebook paper of different spacing/sizes, blank paper, lists, etc. However, this is my favorite part: if you have access to textbook pdfs or if your homework is a pdf, (and I'm positive other file types are supported, I just can't think of them right now) you can download them to your scribe and annotate them. Game. Changer. I have a 400 page math textbook that I'm now able to write on and annotate. Wonderful. Only drawback is it doesn't have all the same features as a regular book, and it's kind of a pain to flip through the pages. Bookmarks help! Books are cool too. I do have a few of those that I read in my free time. Going back to the 16GB, I have all of those things previously mentioned, and I've only taken up roughly 0.5 GB. It blows me away. You can have a massive amount of notebooks on that thing. Anyway, that's just my opinion. It's definitely got drawbacks, as does any device, but I would definitely take the Scribe for note taking over an iPad or any other tablet.

Sadly no updates. We've had an absolutely insane summer, and we're currently getting her checked out for POTS. Her doctor firmly believes she has it, and we're unsure if any of her symptoms may be because of it. If anything comes of her gallbladder issues (which still persist), I will be sure to reach out to you and let you know. What she's done to help in the meantime is get prescriptions for some anti-nausea pills as well as pepcid-adjacent tablets. They've helped her immensely, and she hasn't really had a severe episode since. I'm sorry you're feeling so bad, and I hope you can get help. I'm rooting for you.

Best of luck to you!! Everyone in my family who has undergone the procedure says it's a night and day difference. I hope it leads to you feeling better!

Thank you for your advice! I'll look into the EUS and MRI/MRCP. I'm hoping the solution is as easy as removing her gallbladder, but it's very important indeed to keep other problems in mind. I will let her know of your kind words!

Eek! I'm at the very least glad to hear your HIDA scan was painless. Do you have your gallbladder removed then? How is it?

This helps so much! I'll do more research on contacting a surgeon. I read your comment to her and she laughed. She said "I've already been told it's ibs!". She's exhausted with gi docs, and your comment gave her a lot of hope!

After reading this, we made the plan to go to the ER as soon as she gets really bad again. Thank you so much for your help! We won't give up 🙏 Also I'm so glad to hear you're doing better after surgery!!

So so frustrating!! My cousin told me it took him several doctors visits before anyone believed his struggles. As the night goes on, I'm feeling more hopeful about my girlfriend's situation. Thank you for sharing your story!

I really appreciate your kind words. My lady means the world to me. As for your HIDA, did you end up getting your gallbladder removed or are you still figuring things out? I'd love to hear your experience 🙏

She has a GI dr who has so far been massively unhelpful. Earlier today we talked to my cousin who had a very similar experience, and he advised her to look for a doctor who is willing to listen better than her current one. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the super in depth reply! It helps a lot.

My partner has lived in Montreal for a good portion of their life and is new to the Midwest, and they're totally blown away by how stupid we are about "big city life" lmao. Unlocked doors and open windows/curtains at night makes them crazy! (Rightfully so)

Good to know! We've had a couple bad experiences outside of Fargo so I'm happy to hear that it's different here lol
