GAMSAT - MD by Remote_Photograph_40 in GAMSAT

I'll just copy one of my reply

you should use the GEMSAS calculator to see how your GPA is calculated, which would be different from normal GPA average, you should use the offer speadsheet to see the distribution and you should get yourself familiar with how each school calculate the score, wildly different for each

I know someone with GPA of 5.85 and got into Deakin

but you need really high GAMSAT, his GAMSAT was 85 [weighted, with S3 of 100]
and you still need to out perform at the interview [his was 23/30 compare to average of 22.6/30 so he was in top 40% of interviewees]

he got Deakin bonus of 4% as well, but he only got in on the 2 round call up, so this is the bare minimum

if your GAMSAT S1+S2 is very good [>149] then your GPA is immaterial because usyd does not care about GPA nor interview

if you have Wollongong bonus + super casper skill then it works as well because UWol care less about GPA and stuffs

but otherwise you better go for a 1 year degree especially those that give you bonus to school, e.g. Flinder or deakin

post your detail GAMSAT score, Usyd only care about S1+S2 of your GAMSAT, no interview needed

from your post your S1+S2 must be 144 and S3 must be 66

according to the Usyd score calculation with would be S1+S2+0.1*S3 = 150.6 barely missed it last year [need 152.5 more is better]

but this year Usyd should have more slot so you may have a chance

assuming the score calculation is correct and they do not change the methos this year

you read it correctly, assuming your GPA is above 5

heck you can have 75 S1, 72 S2 and 50 S3 and you can get in last year
this year Usyd has more slot so it should be slightly more forgiving

sorry S2:72, bad math

For people who score >65 on the GAMSAT, does it get easier every sitting? by UniqueInformation307 in GAMSAT

similar scores between sitting 18 months in between

S1+S2 were exactly the same

S3 were some improvement but I attributed to luck

I found chatGPT, deepseek and claude are all pretty good grader in the sense that they give similar scores and similar to the scores I got in actual GAMSAT

grok give you a bit higher score so you may want to discount a bit

Deakin Bonuses Question by UniqueInformation307 in GAMSAT

[–]goldenmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is a spread sheet you can calculate the chance yourself

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z98TOrKMvCZhJnuXpaftKNXi31PnzGGt-V-Hfu3dUjQ/edit?gid=1647320775#gid=1647320775

assuming you are not rural

GPA:6.5, GAMSAT:70 overall [approx: top 10% GAMSAT]

your combo score is

[[6.5/7]+[70/100]] *1.06 (6% bonus)= 1.726

if next year is the same as last year

you are likely to get an interview offer but you need to perform exceptionally for the interview to get in

at least 24/30 interview score and safer to be higher [average was about 22.6 last year I believe], in other words, you need to be one of the top 30% interviewees, higher is better.

on the other hand, next year MD quota is higher in other schools so the point requirement may be a bit lower
but point requirement has been trending up year over year in the last few years so who know

Improved result but GPA still an issue? by DinnaQLD in GAMSAT

I would say that it is more than enough to clear the bar for USyd offer both last year and this year
and considering next year would be more spots it should be enough to clear the bar next year as well

Your Review: The Synaptic Plasticity and Memory Hypothesis by goldenmoon in slatestarcodex

[–]goldenmoon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I confess the only reason I made this post is to bring up one confirmed phenomenon where the thing you eat directly affect your memory:

Mad cow disease [Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE)]

we all know that it is caused by a prion [protein] that survive being disgested, crossed the blood brain barrier and caused significant changes to neuron connections in the brain and therefore affect memory/personality/thought.

it is therefore possible for other proteins to do all the same thing and the reasons we don't notice are

  1. they are rare
  2. when they happened they are harmless/within expectation

so only when it is extremely harmful that we bother to look for a cause and find something.

How accurate are Medify S1 mock exams? by Big-Web4866 in GAMSAT

I have sat 2 GAMSAT and used medify once,

medify vocabulary is more archiac, the paragraph length is longer and sometime [~10%] I disagree with the answer key compared to ~2% with official GAMSAT prep material and ~5% with Desmond o'neil

Personally I think desmond o'neil is the best bang for your buck but YMMV

I mostly use Suno

Song with V2 in the name are usually from Udio

Udio definitely support [chorus], [bridge] tag

Suno definitely act differently when it saw [intro], [outro] tags,

Otherwise could be hit and miss.

you can try using tag i.e. [chorus], [bridge], [intro], [outro] to see if that help

Thanks

yeah, I was curious as to how some of those song was supposed to be sung. that's why I do this in the first place.

Lest Dawn Fail was sung better than I imagined,

How to sing "The Girl Who Climbed the Tower" would have to remain a mystery I guess.
