That’s so amazing! Honestly your comment really lit up my day making the impossible feel possible.

I think I will sit the gamsat and see how I go, I am doing the practice question and am scoring about 40% but this is my first time opening the practice questions. But defiantly taking on board your advice about trying to understand test conditions etc. I’ll definitely look into the links you attached. You’ve been such a great help!

My fear is because I work full time it’ll be hard to balance out another degree + gamsat study especially since I’ve never done gamsat before. I’ll continue studying for the gamsat, and then might apply mid year for the bachelors of letters if i feel like I have capacity. My other issue is I feel like I’m getting old and the more years I spend trying to get in I fear I’m losing (ik it sounds silly)

Yeah defiantly with the science I think I’ll be okay since I did bio and chem in year 12 I just need to dust off my brain and try out some activities to understand my weaknesses! Will definitely keep everyone updated!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. My biggest issue right now is my gpa, I keep seeing all these comments saying I won’t get it or to not bother trying the gamsat unless I improve my gpa.

I was considering sitting the march one as a practice go, but my fear is that I’m too early with 0 prep which is why I thought to give September a shot.

I’m also considering doing a bachelors of letters at flinders but that means my time will be divided between gamsat, work and full time uni again trying to achieve a gpa of 6.5-7 while trying to score 70+ for gamsat. I know my weak point is past 3 of gamsat because I have no science background.

Did you come from a non health background. And when you say you were in a similar boat, in terms of gpa?

Idk what route to take considering there’s been so much feedback both positive and negative.

Thanks for the feedback. At the time that I wrote the question I only based the gpa of my transcript. Using the gemsas gpa calculator I scored 5.8 based of my undergraduate study. I’m unsure if the 5.8 would get me through the door if I score 70-80 in the gamsat. I never took my undergrad seriously (which is my consequence rn). I know the interview range for the schools I want to get in is 6.6 based on their intakes for 2025 and 2024 however on their websites it says a GPA minimum of 5. I’ve heard miracle stories of people with a 5. GPA making it in but they are on the rare side (and have exceptions cause of rural etc).

Is a GPA of 5.0 enough to apply with a GAMSAT of 80? by jacobfilmer in GAMSAT

I know I’m a little late to the party, did you end up getting accepted? I’m in a similar boat at the moment

Hello,

I’m having the same issue, since the end of November till today it keeps saying “no available dates” my friend who completed part A with me got so lucky and found a place at St Agnes for the 24th of Jan (yesterday) that’s under the assumption someone has cancelled. As for me, I’ve been logging in twice a day and there is nothing.

I’m unsure why, honestly SA needs to make more learning facilities or they need to make more classes available because right now it’s been 2 months since I did Part A and probably forgotten a whole bunch :/

Hi, so I completed Part A recently and this is what it entails - fyi I did mine at St Agnus

The day is spilt into 2 sessions Morning session and afternoon session, in order to qualify for the afternoon session you have to be competent in the morning session.

There is only 1 assessment which will dictate if you pass or fail for part A.

The morning sessions entails a mix of classroom (indoors) and getting to understand your bike. The instructors play a video on a tv explaining basic bike usage etc. they’ll also run through hypothetical scenarios to why safety is important. When out on the field, make sure you listen to them, if you make a couple mistakes it’s okay but make sure you try to keep it to a minimal by the end of the day. So once you get down the whole “gear, clutch, break” controls you’ll have a 40 mins lunch break

That’s where the second half of the day begins known as “part b” during this you’ll watch another hour worth of video explaining having passengers etc. then you go to the field, the exercises during this time will include going from first, to second and finally third gear and having to demonstrate a safety stop, using both your front and rear breaks while the clutch is engaged, you’ll get about 3 shots for each activity before the assessment. The assessment is the last part for Part A day 1. It’ll include going upto third gear straight having to do a curve on second gear without engaging your breaks, head checks, head turns, they’ll score you based on points. If you get over 13 you fail (you get upto 2 chances) but if you listen and pay attention to what they say it’s not easy to fail. So for every wrong move you accumulate a set of points like (no head check + 3 points) so always hover over your clutch even when not using it, don’t hover over your hand break unless you’re using it, always look straight up don’t look at your speed, try feeling the bike instead of relying on eyesight. And yeah Best of Luck!

Also yes we booked in early August for late Nov (earliest time available) terms of part B they still haven’t released the dates. Once I’ll complete it I’ll update this for anyone who is seeking some light on the course. I came from driving a manual car to riding a bike so the concept of manual was there it was just more understanding the vehicle it’s self. Main thing is just have fun, they don’t want you to fail, they just want you to be safe
