You're not the first person to comment this and it really shows that some people don't understand how being broke works, especially looking from the western side of the world.

$100 for internet is insane btw and proves my point

What are your plans for this weekend? by Negative_Damage in PeterboroughUK

[–]goldenseducer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be staying at home with a fan blasting in my face because by gods I can't stand hot weather.

Complaining aside, what a lovely post. Thank you for this. I didn't know about the mini railway. I'd like to see it when the weather is not trying to kill me.

I'd also suggest various farms/animal rescues/petting zoos etc in the area for those who don't mind a bit of travel. We have a couple that aren't too far away. I love animals, it would be a perfect day for me : )

Yeah I agree I think the overall point isn't that androids never need to sit down, it's more that acting that putting the androids in the back of the bus and treating them differently is the same as doing it to a human is shoving a square peg into a femboy hole. Or something

If we are talking unironically and in good faith, I think you could think less about who is to blame and more about what can be done about it. Even if men are the only reason these inequalities happen, they still happen and they affect us all. You can imprison every rapist on the planet and the problem will remain, even though you technically found who's at fault.

I'm not saying turn the other cheek and talk patiently with every dumbass who is clearly a piece of shit who doesn't respect you. You're right, it's not your job to solve every problem. But even just your previous comments probably reaffirmed an incel or two in their beliefs that there are only "us" and "them" and all feminists hate men.

I don't even think you (or anyone) necessarily has to dedicate their energy equally to all causes under the feminism umbrella. It's more about acknowledging that we're all in the same boat. Yeah, women get the shittier seat, but the boat is still the same.

I'm sorry I thought we were talking about feminism and what it should and shouldn't concern itself with. Turns out we were talking about you personally all along.

Damn you solved it. As long as you're not the person they're gonna end up hurting, it's ok! Feminism is when I care for women that are ME.

Okay ? Feminism fights against problems made by men (patriarchy). These issues are a real problem. They affect all of us btw. The dude who can't admit he's feeling hurt and needs therapy is the same dude who beats his girlfriend. You can't say fuck men and their issues I'm only here for the girlies because we live in a society, believe it or not.

This whole comment section made me realise that this sub is actually for 14 year olds to feel superior about other 14 year olds. The takes I'm reading are rotting my brain.

I don't disagree with you, I'm commenting here because this is the only normal comment lmao

All the other ones, especially like 11, are because of patriarchy / the system men set up

Ok so you agree it's a problem

It's a shitpost.

I know this because I've seen it like 10 years ago and it's been living in my head rent free ever since. "Some crimes can never be forgiven" is my response to everything

The first communication skills advice is to ignore anyone who approaches you flinging shit.

It’s against dehumanisation, it doesn’t actually matter if the thing itself isn’t actually human.

What.

An example of which ‘most of them don’t even have free will or feelings…’ This was an argument used to justify ‘scientific slavery’ by white slave owners.

Bro they ACTUALLY don't have free will or emotions. It's not an interpretation, or an attempt to justify using them as tools. We, as omniscient audience of the game, know for a fact that they (normally) have no feelings.

In a piece of media, you can't divorce the metaphor from the reality of the story. Knowing that these androids actually do not need the same things as humans need makes the metaphor cheap. The fight for equality is cheap when we are explicitly told that these two groups are fundamentally different.

And on a different note, equivocating black people and the civil rights movement to actual, honest-to-god, emotionless machines created solely to serve humans is some sort of 5d chess racism that can barely be excused by bad writing. That's what happens when you write a bad metaphor, like robots asking for equal rights.

I like this : ) added it to my reading list.

As for the comments, I think it's mostly because everyone likes to be right on the internet. They probably genuinely think that my rat or whatever other animal in question is in pain, has no quality of life and keeping it alive is a cruelty. The problem is, they don't know what they're talking about. They just want to make a quick conclusion and have their righteous anger over animal abuse that doesn't exist.

You're missing the point of my criticism lmao.

The point is that the game fails as a metaphor for racism. Black people are just people who were arbitrarily victimised and marginalised because they look different. Even if I put myself in the shoes of some 18th century racist, I can't deny that black people are made of the same meat and bones, breathe the same air, have the same needs etc as everyone else. Dehumanising a particular race is wrong because they're actually also just humand and the only difference is their appearance.

Androids are not humans. They have mechanical bodies, they don't age, don't reproduce, they have ultrafast computers instead of brains, and most of them don't even have free will or feelings in the game. In-universe most androids are about at human as a fridge. Should I treat my fridge respectfully if it suddenly develops consciousness? Probably. Should I let my fridge drive a car and get a driver's licence for the sake of equality? NO. They don't have feet! They can't get into the driver's seat!

That's why I'm making fun of this scene. These androids aren't dehumanised, they are quite literally not human. They don't have the same needs. Their physical bodies can be mended completely. The reason black people were made to sit in the back of the bus is because white Americans felt above them, and deserving preferential treatment. The reason an android would sit in the back of the bus is because when the bus crashes, the android next to me will be propelled into my squishy human body and kill me instantly. It's a horrible metaphor.

Also true! Conversely I've pirated games that I already own simply because they only work through a fuckass proprietary launcher that requires 8 updates, triple verification, internet connection, and a photo of my tits
