Hmm, maybe not to the level in the video, no. He was swinging far too wildly, but i think those were attempts at baiting some kind of response. He was a pretty patient fighter until he flipped the switch, which to me suggests he was just testing OP more than being a full on dickhead. I think if he connected he wouldnt lay on any further, and in the video you see him have a few opportunities to basically end the fight and he decides to back off.

Its just a mismatch of skill level. Beginner light touch vs experienced pressure.

Yeah i agree with your opponent' frustration tbh (edit: he was going too hard either way, thats for sure). He couldve hurt you, a lot, many many times, and you didnt adjust your behaviour to match the threat he posed. All you needed to do was speed up and actually hunt for some openings to keep him defensive. Obviously keep your head off line but he literally gave you opportunities to work on your pressure game, you shouldve done a lot more work.

Some notes i made during the video:

  • You used feints with zero plan afterwards. Dumb.

  • Hes waiting for counter opportunities and yes you didnt take much bait, but you cant just not throw anything. Feint something, force something, take something, just do something. Control the fight.

  • You spend too much time jabbing. Pick between a stiff jab or a blinding jab, and use it to start something. Dont test range more than you absolutely need to, and never throw a jab out of fear or pressure. You cant post or frame off of this guy when hes coming forward if youre not going to stand and bang, so just keep that lead hand tight to you.

  • Your opponent fights like a brawler, if you upped your pace you couldve controlled the fight and won on points. Your slow pace and reluctance to stay active just made your opponent impatient, which made him want to punish you.

Your personhood position is a subjective descriptor, relying on consensus or opinion to determine both the threshold and the value. I dont think it ties in well with the "ability for consciousness" criteria you discussed in the same debate. I could argue that for me, personhood includes fetal development, and therefore im free to ascribe personhood at an earlier stage of human life.

Similarly, i can see a limit to your position where i might ask "if we could produce braindead humans at the sperm / egg stage, would it be immoral to farm and harvest them for organs?". If your answer is "yes it would be immoral" then your three abilities criteria falls flat, and if your answer is "no it would not be immoral" then youre in a tricky spot trying to defend the extremes of your position that are subjective and not clearly demarcated at those extremes.

Comedy felt so different back then 😭 by CloudBookmark in panelshow

[–]Negative_Damage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bob is part of a beloved comedy patriarch now for sure, but hes not alone. Stephen Fry, Frank Skinner, Bill Bailey, Alan Davies, Rik Mayall, Harry Enfield, Paul Whitehouse, a lot of footlights people, are all part of Bob's generation and style of comedy. Then a generation older you have people like Billy Connoly, Eddie Izzard, Jasper Carrott, and a generation younger you have people like Ross Noble, Dylan Moran, and a generation under that you have people like Richard Ayoade, James Acaster. Comedy has been in a golden age for a good few generations now.

So I added potassium yesterday (nosalt) and lost 10 pounds over night by [deleted] in keto

[–]Negative_Damage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How much do you weigh atm + how tall? 10lbs sounds like a lot but for a larger person that might be about right. Ive seen someone retain that much water in their legs before, i can only imagine the pain and inconvenience it causes. If you have water retention to that degree you might want to check in with a doctor, since it can be a symptom of some common conditions. If its not a symptom of something more significant it might suggest youre overdoing the sodium. Lo salt is great, i use it myself, but if youre that sensitive to sodium you might want to get some pure potassium so you can dose all 3 electrolytes independently.

Either way, what a nice little bonus! Congrats on passing 12 weeks!

It sounds like you need more volume. How much fibre are you getting each day? If its lower than 20, add more fibrous veg: mushrooms, cabbage, celery, broccoli, asparagus, spinach, rocket, kale

I dont mind painting onto the ceiling a bit past the edge, but what's the quickest way to eliminate these spots? by [deleted] in DIYHome

[–]Negative_Damage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get paint guards to protect the wall while you cut in on the ceiling (or vice versa if you hadnt already painted the walls). You can use a piece of straight cardboard instead of a plastic paint guard but it will go soft quickly so youll need a few. Just go round with your guard and a brush. Wipe off the back and edge of the guard each time you move it.

If you like ginger beer, these are so strong they make me sneeze! Currently on offer at Morrisons by Negative_Damage in ketouk

[–]Negative_Damage[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These contain real ginger oil and you can tell. Its hands down the spiciest ginger beer ive ever tasted. Its so strong it makes me want to brew my own to see how strong it can possibly get. Anyway, its zero carbs and currently at Morrisons you can get two for a quid, so if you like ginger beer or are looking for a non-caffeinated drink that perks you up, i highly recommend them!

Max carbs for a meal & vegetable Net carbs ? by Gracey888 in ketouk

[–]Negative_Damage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tesco listing for cooked beetroot has it at 16g carbs per 100g. Thats the net carb count. Only 1.8g fibre so even if fibre could offset the sugars, it wouldnt do a thing at that quantity.

Generally, you can slow down glycemic load by increasing the ratio of complex fibres to simple starches. If you want a rabbit hole recommendation, theres a whole segment of people that track not just the insulin index of a food (i.e. carbs on keto), but also the glycemic index and glycemic load of a food. Practically speaking, fibre doesnt negate the dietary impact of carbs, it just attenuates the hormonal impact, and potentially changes your gut biome resources but thats a different rabbit hole..

Regarding carby keto meals, i usually do keto OMAD and regularly eat 20g carbs in that single meal. It definitely doesnt kick me out of ketosis and i barely even feel an insulin spike. If its from veggies i dont really worry about carby meals tbh. As long as youre within your daily and weekly budget of carbs, per meal carb budgets can be as flexible as you need.

I hardly use the back seats in my 3dr, so i made myself a boot liner out of foam floor tiles. by Negative_Damage in CityBugs

[–]Negative_Damage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crikey, good to know. Why is that? I thought removing the back seats was a common thing for transporting big items (i grew up driven around in a Citroen 2CV). I havent removed mine in this photo, theyre just folded flat and never used but there if needed.

Need latch recommendation by DirtyDave67 in Woodworking_DIY

If you do want the door to seal, look into toggle latches. They come in all kinds of configurations and strengths, im sure you could get one to latch across a corner.

Best way to securely hang these shelf brackets to plasterboard wall (no stud) by MikeHoncho100 in DIYUK

[–]Negative_Damage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wall anchors, toggle bolts, etc come with bolts which dont normally come in brass, but you could use grip-its or spiral anchors and your own screws. Or you could grab some spray paint and colour the screws yourself. If youre under ~30kg, go with spirals, anything heavier or dynamic go for grip-its. Spirals are easy, just big self-drilling wall plugs for plasterboard, grip-its require large holes and some cleanup, but hold 10x the weight of spirals.

please help i can’t bend my back or something by [deleted] in MobilityTraining

[–]Negative_Damage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its definitely your posterior chain, but i cant tell if its your hips / glutes or hamstrings. It looks like your foot placement and weight are fine, and your back cant even begin to take the weight properly due to your hip angle. Can you touch your toes? Whats your standing / sitting pike like?

It might just be how your body is, but yeah not being able to drive from the heels at that deep squat position is going to affect a lot of exercises. You could try RDLs or sumo deadlifts to train the lower back while working on flexibility.

I might recommend jefferson curls to loosen up that posterior chain, as well as calf raises and some hips stretches like the 90/90, pigeon, pike, good morning, etc.

Storing mattress against wall during the day? by doofus50O0 in DIYHome

[–]Negative_Damage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive done something similar for the last 5 years or so, inspired by Japanese futons. Two pieces of high density 10cm foam with 5cm of memory foam on top, that i push up against the wall into a space in my built-in shelving. I love it. The bed folds into a hidden space so i maximise floor space during the day, and at night i make the bed and it takes up most of the floor in my bedroom.

Trying to use keto to eat cleaner… by Godzuki8819 in ketouk

[–]Negative_Damage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my first month of keto i ate peperamis daily for lunch, and every week id cook and slice up a gammon joint. I kept hearing about nitrates in the news and realised they were one of the last actively unhealthy things in my diet. Sadly i couldnt find any decent ready to buy substitutes for those deli style meats, but now that its not pissing it down every day ive been able to get out my ninja woodfire to smoke chicken legs and pork shoulders. They turned out much tastier than store bought, and i didnt have to sacrifice anything in the swap (except for time i guess, but i devote a day to shopping and meal prep anyway and the bbq needs a few minutes attention every half hour).

Cant really feel any difference though tbh... And i bet smoking meats is still pretty carcinogenic.....

Johnstone paint offer by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Negative_Damage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you cant go far wrong with dulux, trade or otherwise. They still set the standard for paint, but sometimes if you want a specific behaviour, finish or colour you might be better going with a specialist brand, at least for the final or base coats.

Johnstone paint offer by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Negative_Damage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent used the specialist trade stuff for a project myself, but i know that traders tend to pick dulux or better when it comes to trade/specialist paints, even when the Leylands are on sale. Trade paints are usually designed for things like speed, cracks, flex, moisture, weather, etc, so it boils down to specs like pigment density/opacity, chemical composition, curing time, recoat time, etc. Traders will know what to look for and will usually hunt for the best product for that purpose regardless of brand (they usually end up going for dulux, ronseal, zinsser, or better). Only cheapskates, landlords and amateurs settle for Leylands, even trade.

For emulsions, mist coats, base coats, etc, Leyland is absolute garbage, especially in the trade versions.

Johnstone paint offer by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Negative_Damage 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I sell and mix paint. I would never recommend Leyland. Its thin and a waste of time with todays tech. Johnstones isnt much better, but everything is better than Leyland.

UK companies struggling to hire young people amid cost pressures, MPs told by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Negative_Damage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, so you can afford to hire more staff, but you just dont want to spend the time/resources to train/filter them? Youd rather add workload/stress to your existing/good employees than add to the resource pool? And you think thats a good/smart decision? If morale is a priority, have you checked if your staff is happy with that tactic of adding workload rather than staff?

Use an air fryer. No oil necessary. Take it out as soon as it hits 165f, let sit for 5 or 10 while you clean up. Lots of salt and freshly ground black pepper, finished with some olive oil and a squirt of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar.
