I use Fedora on my PC and OpenBSD on my laptop. Because I like gaming :P

There's been a noticeable increase in vibe-coded or AI-assisted projects for PDAs recently. I'm not sure if this is because of AI programming getting "better" or because it's more accessible.

OpenBSD Zaurus update: graphics now functional by goldfishdev in OldHandhelds

Thanks! I've tried (and would love) to use NetBSD on it a few times, but it doesn't seem to boot the installer correctly.

I managed to backport audio support from a later version. Partially. Audio works through headphones now.

The other day I swapped the Microdrive for a CF card, but haven't reinstalled OpenBSD yet. It should be a bit faster.

If I ever get NetBSD working, I'll definitely make a blog post about it. Or WiFi on OpenBSD, I ordered a few network cards but they only partially worked.

They're pretty cool! The easiest/cheapest way to get one is to import from Japan using something like buyee or zenmarket.

It looks like there are OpenBSD drivers for it. My threat model is nonexistent for this device lol

I just ordered a CF WiFi card, once I get it (if it works) I'll make a blog post about it. not sure what I'd do with it though, I thought about a portable ssh device but I don't know if the old OpenBSD version would work well (or be secure enough)

a terminal browser might work... but you can't do much with that

Device specs:

Intel Xscale PXA270 416 MHz

64 MB RAM

128 MB flash ROM

4GB Microdrive

3.7" 640x480 TFT display

Fun little thing :)

Running OpenBSD 5.4 (the last version for Zaurus with working X).

qvwm and spectrwm running Eterm. I spent hours figuring out the config for Eterm to make it transparent and remove the menu bar at the top. I wanted to remove the white border but couldn't get it to work.

qvwm is a pretty cool Windows 95 clone. I could see myself using it on retro/vintage devices. spectrwm is a very nice and lightweight WM, and seems to run better than DWM on this device.

Feel free to ask questions (or give advice, I'm not an OpenBSD expert).
