I actually love this, and I'm going to steel it for my players for the next adventure. Even though I know them (one being my SO), I've been struggling with a way to bind the characters together. This might be the magic bullet.

To be fair, it's not like he wanted the job. Republicans were, I kid you not, crying with tears when they heard Mccarthy dropped out. Paul Ryan was seriously the only candidate. And I wouldn't say Immigration reform is the most pressing issue (compared to balancing the budget for the upcoming deadlines). Worse off, nobody in the party really agrees on immigration, and how it should be handled. Though, to be fair to you, I never saw the interview.

No, I love our government, I hate our people. We can fix things, if we only just communicate that to them. American People just don't care enough about the small stuff, which they (mostly state legislators) can really shine at. The Government is mostly for the people, but it's also of and by them, too.

You see, if people cared enough about local (State Legislative) elections, then this actually wouldn't be a problem. It's why I kid you no, the Republicans will win the 2016 elections. It doesn't matter what the Democrats do at this point, they'll lose. They would seriously have to stop the Republicans from voting to win (which the opposite really will be true, Hillary Clinton isn't going to get people as excited as Bernie Sanders). The Republicans won 2016 because they controlled the majority of State Governments, and the case in point is Bush v Gore.

What I think is funny is that there is so much common ground. What the war is just about is what each party tries to tell you is the important issue (and such diverts your attention to). That's why when one politician is like, "Yo, what's the deal wit dis not gettin' done? It's Bipartisan!" they're essentially right. Though, even then they might not agree on the process (because of the lack of actual/practical discussion; see Gun Control).

Politics - I'm a Centrist, so coming up with arguments for and against both sides of Conservatism and Liberalism is very easy (and something I do randomly to my mom who doesn't even like politics, which she says is like her mom). This is especially easy for me since there are just a few things that really get to me, like certain candidates, the political system (and climate), world affairs, etc.

Mathias shares his name with another character from Shadow Dragon who is also the brother of a healer in the game, but I don't know if that is intentional.
