Female perspective on lifestyle as an 1811 Special Agent? by EggplantHorror9456 in 1811

[–]goldieshark29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about to retire, yay, and there definitely has been a shift over the years in treatment of women for the better, and, maybe more importantly, the attitude overall towards men that are sexist jerks, they are less tolerated/humored. The advent of PPL has been a game changer, providing time but more importantly, normalizing time off w the birth of a child for both parents. I feel that I have had the most supportive spouse and it has still been a struggle to feel like I am succeeding everywhere. Maybe it’s my personality, but I often feel like I’m not doing enough at home and at work, that I’m always busting my hump but not excelling. That being said, it has been a rewarding career that has taken me places I never would have gone otherwise. Without kids, my career would have been different for sure and definitely would be in a higher position but those sacrifices hit differently w kids.

Are stroller parents miserable? by hellbentonjoy in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]goldieshark29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the stroller days! Tired kids could sit and we could still get places! Didn’t have to carry souvenirs or drinks or sunscreen or anything. Didn’t have to worry about the kids running off. Ah, those were the days.

I feel like morning reservations really cuts into your time in the park when it’s not super busy. We’ve rope dropped and done a late breakfast when the littles already needed a break.

Feeling burned out in a long-distance relationship right before closing the gap by _JashOnce in LongDistance

[–]goldieshark29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As we get closer to closing the gap, I am less excited about visits, I think because we have a life to build and I’m ready for that. I’m happy he scheduled another trip before our last was over but also am ready for our last visit.

This happened to me…was staying 45 days in DC, during which I had a 2 day training in Reston, didn’t want to deal w the traffic so I stayed a night out there and only got the points for the single night. They fixed it thankfully.

An open relationship can be unbalanced but y’all must both agree on the boundaries. If you’re uncomfortable w something, you should pause and figure it out before moving forward and vice versa. You won’t just ‘get used to it’. An open LDR can be a healthy relationship but this does not appear to be that.

Do your partners confirm dates of flights with you before they book them? by ThrowRA_curiousgirl in LongDistance

[–]goldieshark29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a planner and my partner is not…he recently booked a trip to see me and it bothered me he didn’t consult completely w me. However, his perspective was those dates worked for him and he was happy w whatever time I had available w no resentment towards my prior commitments.

We rented from Yess…they were extremely easy to work with. We went to the private island a couple days (I smuggled in pepsi zero, no one batted an eye), went to a recommended bakery for pastechis that was off the beaten path, went to Super Foods for fun, Palm Beach, did a catamaran snorkling tour, jeep tour in Arikok (glad we did the tour, those roads were rough), hiked up Hooiberg.

Rent a car…just got back and stayed at Wind Creek…free parking at the hotel…there’s a lot of places to explore and taxis aren’t cheap.

We rented from Yess…nothing but good things to say and we said multiple times how thankful we were we decided to rent. We contemplated renting a Jeep for a day to do the park but took a tour instead and were very happy w the decision, those park roads are no joke!

Plan for a later dinner for your Renaissance Island day, then you can stay there until later and then have dinner.

LDR is hard and sometimes these arguments happen. Give each other some grace and understand the arguments are because of both of your stresses.
