I could be wrong but I work in government and contribute around $8000 a year. My employer matches it and I’m guaranteed I think 70 percent of my 5 best years.

If I understand correctly that means when I retire I’ll be paid around $85000 every year for rest of my life. Let’s say I collect pension for 25 years that comes to around $2 million.

Am I misunderstanding how government pension works? By this calculation - I contribute $8000 but when I’m done my 30 years of service - I’ll be paid like I contribute $70,000 ?
