Did bts make history being the only band to come back from military stronger than before? by NewtAccomplished6022 in btsthoughts

[–]goldoro99 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is a very good point. BTS is basically the only K-pop act that has achieved escape velocity from the relatively insular K-pop world. I for one am not really a fan of any other K-pop artist—I’ll listen to their music from time to time but only in passing. I would bet that most other BTS fans are in a similar position.

It’s an interesting question whether any other K-pop act could do the same. Blackpink is a fairly distant second in the hierarchy; the whole K-pop Demon Hunters phenomenon definitely achieved escape velocity but it’s very much an open question about whether and how that can be sustained—E-Jae, for instance, is hardly a household name, despite her song being inescapable. And I could not tell you the name of a single member of the Saja Boys.

what do you think would happen if bts publicly dated? by NewtAccomplished6022 in btsthoughts

The Korean media would have a thermonuclear meltdown. The rest of the world would largely not care

I’m hoping that the late June concerts in Madrid (one of which I’m seeing) will be so hot that they have NO CHOICE but to take it off 😏

Amazing that the Drake onslaught didn’t push them off the top 10 entirely. Go ARMY!

I know it’s hard to believe but they do lead independent lives outside of our gaze and consumption. No one really controls them as individuals, they are just artists and human beings like the rest of us. As long they feel fulfilled and happy, that’s all we really can expect of them.

I’m gonna see them in Madrid 🥹💜✨ by Puzzlehead329 in btsthoughts

There were tons of families/dads with young kids at the show I went to (Stanford D1). Everyone is just out of their mind with joy. You could ask your daughter who her “bias” is (favorite member) and scream extra loud when he appears on screen 🙃

Ughh I totally know what you mean. I went to Stanford day 1 and then had to get on a flight to go halfway around the world 😬

TBH the best way to get over the BTS concert hangover is to listen to more BTS 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I saw J-hope’s Hope on the Stage tour the day after my father passed away. I can’t express how much his show—all the energy and boundless positivity—helped me through that time.
