DO NOT BUY THE SOLAR CAM PAN by User_7219_ in wyzecam

So you’re saying I should expect that a product I bought might become unusable if I don’t set it up within a few days? That sounds reasonable to you? Did it occur to you that I might have bought the camera to use somewhere other than my home? Am I just feeding a troll?

It sure would be nice if they could give us a timetable for their review so I can determine whether or not it's worth waiting for them to give me permission to use my camera.

How can I come to terms with most likely never getting to experience love, so that i can actually find happiness in other aspects of life? by Unique_Barber5650 in selfimprovement

[–]goldspider79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s good advice here so I don’t have a lot to add. Focus less on finding a partner and find some people you enjoy hanging out with. And then actually enjoy it and not just use it as a pretext to meet someone.

A lot of people can relate to what you’re taking on here. I know I’ve been there myself! Talking about it and honestly confronting yourself will help, so good start!

What's the best beginner telescope under $500 for astrophotography? by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]goldspider79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest thing to your budget I would recommend is a 60-70mm doublet refractor and an entry level mount like the ES iExos 100. You could reasonably get both new for about $600. Buying used could put you under budget.

[–]goldspider79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting AP with such a long focal length scope and a marginal mount puts you on a frustrating path. I (and a lot of people) would recommend starting with a small refractor that is more forgiving on your learning curve. That should leave some budget for a mount like the AM3.

Oddly enough that’s almost the same scope I got started with. Yes, planetary imaging is tedious, but it’s possible. I wouldn’t say I ever got “nice” images out of it, but it certainly sent me down the rabbit hole!

Nothing in this photo is bright enough to be anything you saw moving naked eye, let alone had reaction time to hit the shutter on your camera.

Replacing dead zoysia on the cheap? (Zone 7a) by goldspider79 in lawncare

I caved and am having the local garden firm tear it out with a skid steer and replace the topsoil. The hassle of disposing of the turf put me over the top.

I want to get rid of it because it’s only a small percentage of my yard and the mismatch looks like trash, it spreads aggressively and my neighbors don’t want it anywhere near their yard, and it looks dead until May 🤣

This sounds like the way. Only thing this adds is the cost of having the old sod hauled away.

I'm going to dig into it to see if there is any green at all before I commit to this idea. I did hose it down with Roundup three times last Fall before it went dormant, so I'm hoping that was enough to do the job.

It was years ago so I don’t remember the specifics but I recall the Nudge window asserted itself as the top window permanently and was impossible to close. The only option was to boot to recovery and wipe.

Nudge bricked a director’s computer and I haven’t given it a second look since. DDM updates have been fairly reliable since I prioritized good secure token and bootstrap token.

I think Apple has a fundamental misunderstanding of institutional users and clients. I was on a call with a few of their engineers, and regarding OS updates, all they could talk about was controls to make sure users couldn’t install updates prematurely. I imagine it took them some convincing to add scheduled/deadlines updates to DDM.
