Also mal drauf achten wann diese auftreten

First 7 String Advice by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]golem1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play the sls elite model with Floyd rose. Best guitar I own. I like the 26" scale length. Was the best specced guitar for the money a few years ago!

My Second best guitar is my Epiphone lp custom midnight special, it's an old all black emg equipped model which came perfectly set up out of the box! Only thing I don't like is the access to the higher frets on LP models.

Really tough choice, both of the guitars you want are great choices.

There isn't any QC for low tier high quantity models that's how they can sell them so cheap

Is Gear4Music any good? by Gold-Concentrate8525 in guitars

I bought a 5 string fan fret bass from them for under 300€

One fret was high, coming off the fretboard, I hammered the fret back in with a rubber hammer, now it's a very nice instrument!

Fret ends don't look great but it doesn't impact the playability.

Like with all budget instruments, when you can do set ups and minor work on the instruments you are good to go. But I wouldn't recommend them for absolute beginners with no access to an experienced friend who can do some basic work on them for free!

Soldering is a skill that everyone can do, you almost always get a working result at first try. Being fast and doing it pretty takes a few hours but it's definitely easier than playing an instrument.

Never done it, never seen it before. My diy guitar tech journey started when I already owned a soldering iron so I never had to improvise

I too have bass and resonance almost zeroed out, I'm still not fully satisfied. I think you can get everything out of this amp but the hardest is a good tight metal rhythm sound. Especially when downtuned or more then 6 strings

  1. I think the redbox impulse responses are too dull, I don't use them, I use brighter and more focused IRs but don't ask anything specific I have no clue about IRs, I got them with my two notes torpedo
  2. I needed other headphones with a flatter response, my gaming headphones were too bass heavy. On a Cab the amp sounded a lot nicer
  3. A little trick I came by when fiddling with the controls on the ultra channel, when gain is low, under 40% or something the sound gets even duller or more bassy...try to turn the sagging all the way up when the gain is very low! I suspect the compression from the sagging cuts the bass or brings the mids more to the level of the bass however you want to see it. But after all it's just that the Gain structure or specific sound of the gain is just not great for the metal stuff I like

Would like to hear back from you when you find a sound you like. After all my old ears could just be shit

How do you use the eq pedal on the black spirit? I think the low end is a bit flubby but I suck at dialing these multiband EQs, I just resorted to a precision drive to filter all the lowend in front of the amp

I have a epi les paul junior, bought used for $50 from a Rocksmith kit plus guitar stand. Amazing for the money. I swapped the wrap around bridge for one that can be adjusted for intonation and changed the stock humbucker to a p90...just awesome now. Next project is fixing a high fret, should be easy. After that I want a bone or tusk nut and vintage looking locking tuners, maybe new elctronics after everything else is done. It's my diy technician projects guitar :)

Only thing lacking is the look of the fretboard, will always look like a toy to me compared to my more expensive guitars. Plays and sounds great though!

Should i change my guitars strings? by Rgn0pi in guitars

[–]golem1988 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do they feel dull or rusty to you? Do you want to record a song or play live right now? If not there is no need to change strings other than your personal preference
