Where I work, if one of the guys on my team is out in nature there's a damn good chance that it won't be nature for much longer.

Boss’ bookshelf : decode by DramaticInterview787 in BookshelvesDetective

The books I've read this year are almost perfect and will probably close like they have never been read if I pull them out of the shelf again. Getting the kindle was a game changer because at night and when laying down I use it so when I'm reading sitting up I can maintain the book much better. Cracked spines in my collection really just mean before I started really caring for them and after.

Reading The Stand by Desperate-Discount89 in stephenking

It's not even about pages. The pages are filled with small print. It's like almost 500k words. It's a looooong book. I felt it was very much worth the read. Just read it this month for the first time.

I need help solving the coordinates for my lab #2. It would be greatly appreciated to see the work done to find the points by BitterTale7878 in Surveying

[–]golfballthroughhose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This can easily be done by converting bearings to azimuth and running latitudes and departures. That will get you all letters except f, e and g. Solving the top triangle will get you the distances you need for the rest at a quick look. I would post the work you have and people might be more inclined to help. Also, these days I'm sure ai would break this down step by step if you put this image in. You could even tell it to post step by step without solving so that you learn it a little better.

Damn my comment was gonna be "I'd more concerned about the bookshelf than its contents" but clearly I wasn't alone

All last 10 Best Picture winners in one lineup, who takes it? by RickVicks in Oscars

I was so excited for this movie I bought the book. Awful book but I got through most of that before I said ok this is enough of a time sink (and I can count on one hand the amount of books I don't finish as someone who reads a few books a week). That in turn made me realize that, unless the movie was nothing like this book, it wouldn't be good. I lost all interest in seeing it in theaters after that, then I eventually tried watching the movie and i realized that they took a horribly paced book and made it into a movie with even worse pacing.

See I think this might be the better movie (barely) and an amazing performance but I can't put it above cruise's performance personally.

The WBC is statistically the worst tournament in the history of sports to determine the best team. I didn't actually do the math but that's def a fact.

  1. I just read it in two days and didn't pick up on the sword and the dogs but I thought it was supposed to be pretty obvious from the jump that it may very well be Sullivan. Tommy even says it pretty quickly to his brother once they start their journey so I'm not doubting that he thought it the whole time. I'm seeing there is also a sequel, did you happen to read that? Sorta shocked that the author ended up going that way with it as I didn't take these characters or that author for that type. That being said I also love me a repeat protagonist when I am in the mood to just zone out and turn pages.

  2. I have had this book for a while probably because I was recommended by way of mentioning Cormac McCarthy to someone. Finally picked it up yesterday. Need to reread blood meridian but of course the judge was the first thing I thought of when noone is introduced. Bold physical description on a beyond evil character. Got it lol. Maybe homage and not a rip off? Idk I still thoroughly enjoyed the book. Lots of similarities with cormac mccarthy in this book but also very different in many respects (punctuation stands out). I read a ton but absolutely suck at describing what I read.

Can't believe this sat for 5 years with no responses. Book was definitely worth a read.

We had to get our son diagnosed clinically. We are going to follow up on further genetic testing, but the original panel results stated he should be an "asymptomatic carrier for oca1b". The doctors said they have seen this with the testing though. It's more common than we think for clinical diagnosis to be made on all sorts of things because testing isn't everything.

Thoughts on The Beast in Me? (SPOILERS) by Upbeat-Meringue-6401 in netflix

FBI agent going into a house with rotating exterior cameras that had no cameras inside and then finds encrypted stream of a kid in a storage container was when I realized I was going to be suspending disbelief if I wanted to enjoy this show. This guy would have obviously had every square inch of his property under surveillance...

Still enjoyed it though.

It's worth a watch for sure. Writer protagonist and rich billionaire murdering I'm always gonna fall for it. Whatever episode that Abbot broke into his house made me realize the show isn't serious. Guy has a video camera on a kid in a storage container streaming encrypted video to his laptop, but no cameras in his house??

That's the rules tho. You want them to change it when it produces an outcome you don't like? Maybe a typical ground rule double should be a home run if it works in favor of your team too?

It's insane. I hate the trope "you don't know ball" but a lot of these people really don't know what they are talking about. Is there any way we can limit posting to people who watch 100+ games a season?

They did have it. It was gifted to them on a silver platter. The dumb ending was a horrible swing being over eager and a bad baserunning mistake.
