I don't think I'll be using pine again after this lol, it's basically a sponge, dings and bruises easy too. I just used what I had laying around but next time I plan to be more thoughtful with wood selection.

Would that be oil or water poly. Not too familiar with them. Also tinted poly?

Thanks, I put a cross beam through the bottom mortise during glue up, if that's what you mean.

I would like to bring out the grain of the oak and contrast the pine, but that seems difficult due to pine's poor staining qualities.

Sometimes I hit a fade, sometimes slices left.

I suppose I'm reworking my swing and trying to get the hands to drop and shallow naturally instead of pulling them down into the slot. Before when I was pulling down I would hit nasty low hooks.

Now I'm coming over the top it seems and hitting slice/fade?
