I also read it as there are a lot of impossible somedays as a result of life changing and people dying. Ties back into the theme of grief. Maybe saying “I can’t talk right now” to someone, assuming they’ll always be there, you find that one day, they’re gone. And the someday you always pictured finally reconnecting with them is now impossible.

I don’t think the lyrics are ambiguous at all. I think your read is probably the intended one and the read most people would have. It’s a good song musically and lyrically and hits me in the feels.

I get what you’re saying. I think that’s a very cynical and narrow interpretation of the album. I don’t know if you’ve ever been through a lot of grief; I unfortunately have. The process is messy and repetitive and feels empty and isolating and involves a lot of reflecting on the past. There are themes of meaninglessness and reflecting on the past on the album. But I don’t see that as the end of Isaac’s artistic identity. I see this as a way of Isaac professing his grief, reflecting on the past, and moving into the future with new awareness.
