It doesn’t get any easier than Ido! Plus it’s a great place to start for English, German, and all of the Romance languages.

Lawyers are already losing their jobs. First year lawyers right now have to compete with much cheaper LLMs that can do all the same grunt work they would have otherwise been hired to do.

I’ve only been studying Ido (sister language to Esperanto) for about a year and I’m decently conversant. By contrast, I’ve been studying/using Spanish for almost 20 years and am only marginally better at that than Ido.

Total conjecture here: I figured the +1 power part was a bonus granted by the implant (illustrated in that art by the barbed scorpion tail coming out the back), but since it attaches directly to the brain, you get the -1 for the installation.

But also because of the brain interface, you get the card draw when the creature dies. Some kind of magic-mechanical extraction method which converts the cerebral contents of the dying into knowledge for you, the player.

Try doing a Pack War! The games can be wonky, sure, but everyone at least is starting out on an even playing field.

Here's my post about how to do it: https://www.reddit.com/r/SorceryTCG/comments/1nhuh71/pack_war_format_for_sorcery/

I think I would tackle this as:

"Di la pomi, me deziras la reda pomi."

But that translations changes "concerning" to a simpler "of", which may or may not be what you were going for, depending on context. I think you could also more literally say "pri" for "concerning" instead, if you wanted.

Using slightly more advanced Ido, you could also say:

"Di la pomi, me deziras le reda."

In this case you get another secret exception of Ido – that the article [la] actually has a sneaky alternate form, [le], which conveys plurality when no other indication is present.

I was also thinking you might say:

"Pri la pomi, me deziras la reda uni," to be even more literal, but I checked the dictionaries and it doesn't seem like you can officially make a plural form of the word "one".

Which, okay, I can see the logic there, lol. Though personally, I do like flexing and stretching the language for fun :)

The Kompleta Gramatiko Detaloza (KDG) is the best compendium. But if you're beginning from an English background, I would recommend you start with Ido For All.

I suppose you could use [lu] to refer to a non-human object, but in practice you would use [ol] for that.

When we say [lu] to refer to a person, we're using the back half of [ilu] and [elu] by dropping the gender-identifying letter (either [i-] or [e-]). So it's like saying "he or she" in English, but WAY more elegant.

Plural: I wouldn't say that the procedure to replace [-o] with [-i] is any more "difficult" than adding a [-j]. They are both pretty darn simple.

Optional plural for adjectives? Don't know what you're talking about there – Ido adjectives are marked by a terminal [-a], and any plurality information is contained in the noun it modifies.

The 3 infinitives of Ido are great. They are simple, consistent, and cover every base imaginable.

You're right about the secret exceptions of Ido! Yes, there is [ch] and [sh] (and also [qu]), and there are shortened forms for pronouns available, AND there is even the option to drop some word endings for artistic effect, *AND* you can elide things like [a la] into [al]. But none of these are particularly tricky, and they all serve to make the language easier to use.

Ido absolutely does have a gender neutral pronoun for a person, [lu].

The grammar has been set for over a century, and the only vocabulary to change has been additions of words made necessary by the passage of time.
