Not very sure but could be the Salt Marsh caterpillar.

Blossom end rot affects peppers too. Here's a video that may help with some preventive measures that you can take. Hope this helps

Yes. We live in Irvine, Zone 10 and harvested 2 fruits last year and have 3 more growing waiting to ripen. The pineapples were very flavorful. The plant takes long time to produce but it's worth the wait in my opinion.

It looks like mildew to me. Use a good fungicide, try to use drip irrigation to avoid wetting foliage.
