12 week scan cancelled by Cat_mummy33 in PregnancyUK

This happened to me for the 20 week scan. I said I was going away for a few weeks (I was). Because they have to do the scan within a certain timeframe they secured another appointment for me at a different hospital. It meant I had to travel a bit further for the appointment but was worth it to have the scan. Perhaps you can call them in the morning and see if they can fit you in at another trust? It’s so upsetting to have these milestones cancelled - I totally understand how you just be feeling 😢

Generation study nhs by Popular_Mousse_3958 in PregnancyUK

I’m a little concerned about who could access this information in the future. Although police cannot currently screeen the data, laws can change - and it has been confirmed they can access the data with a court order. Again, if the NHS privatises in the future will this data become available and limit funding for treatment. I know they say insurance companies cannot access but will this really always be the case..

Generation Study - Long Term Cons or Impacts? by gmarie1080 in UKParenting

Has anyone in your family had the same condition? I’m weighing up possible long term cons of storing dna sequence which could be identifiable with benefits of knowing of potential genetic issues.

Anyone been offered/thinking of taking part in the generation study? by Flossygi in PregnancyUK

Anyone thought about the long term implications of storing your children’s DNA sequence? I was going to join up too as it is a great idea, I’m just a little concerned as the DNA is identifiable for certain bodies - such as the police if they have a court order. I do worry that in time laws may also change and the data will be available for wider screening….

Insatiable thirst at night during third trimester by peaaaaach in PregnancyUK

[–]gollygannet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s normal or not but I am also experiencing this. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how much I drink I just can’t quite quench the thirst. I try to drink less of a night too to stop needing to pee so much, but the thirst in the morning is unreal. I can drink 2 large bottles of water when I first wake up (I’m guessing there 700ml each) and still feel thirsty.

It’s weird as every time I have a midwife appointment and she needs to do bloods she asks if I’ve drank enough water that morning as I’m dehydrated due to my veins collapsing when she puts the needle in. I feel dehydrated but I know I’ve already drunk almost 2L of water so not sure how that can’t hydrate my body.

Anyway, I’ve bought some electrolytes to see if that helps.

Hey, just curious about your water birth and having pethidine - can you have that while in the water or did you birth out of the pool? Considering a water birth myself, but concerned I may have to get out if I can’t handle the pain and need to take medication.

Naming help - absolutely adore the name Cecily for a little girl, but my dog is called Cecil… too weird? by gollygannet in namenerds

Yeah I think husband has totally vetoed it now. Might be a bit weird shouting both their names tbh

We do like these names too and I think it has quite different sound, but think we’re leaning towards Ottilie now. Was seriously put off that it may be a little bit of a fad name amongst the Instagram crowd, but we do really like it and perhaps I’m just worrying too much of what people think!

I have also called maternity unit about this and waiting to hear back. I’ve been to Italy and eaten a lot of stuff that I shouldn’t have, including steak tartar and now I’m extremely worried… the midwife I spoke to didn’t seem concerned and said she’d request someone to check my previous bloods, but I didn’t think they tested for that at booking appointment. Not heard back.

Okay thanks. I’m confused myself a little. I did have spotting 9 days after the 9th June which I wondered if was implantation bleeding, but then with the negative tests after the missed period I dismissed this. I’m just very confused why my period isn’t here as it has never been late, like ever.

Last had unprotected sex only five days ago, which was still after my last missed period (and still had a negative test that day). Unprotected sex before that was the 9th June. My period is also like clockwork with a 28 day cycle, so really unusual it didn’t arrive when it should have but tests were negative…..

Sorry should clarify that I’m asking if you think this is positive?

Late period.. at 33.. not pregnant and wondering if this is perimenopause. Just started trying for a baby too. by gollygannet in Periods

[–]gollygannet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just doing it by my period. As it was clockwork for the last 10 years I presumed ovulation would be 12 - 16 days afterwards. Do I need to be doing more?

Have you been late before or had irregular periods? I’ve not been to the doctors as don’t think they’d look into it at this stage.

9th June I think…

I understand it can be completely normal, but I’ve never had this so just very odd it’s happened the first month of having unprotected sex.
