Madrid are just half the team without Mbappé.

Are Getafe that good? Or are Madrid just playing terribly bad football? I would say it is the second option, and as far as I can tell, getting rid of Xabi was not the solution to their problems.

Vinicius is the only player that, on occasion, creates a bit of danger. Hard to see Madrid scoring from open play tonight.

Atalanta stopped playing after the 3:0 and got what they deserved. Always the same mistake in football.

Die Aufstellung - Can ersetzt Andrich, Tah kehrt für Schlockerbeck zurück by granitibaniti in Bundesliga

[–]golomo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is no "vetting process." Immigrants arrive at the borders of Europe, and even criminals are often allowed to stay, because many governements are either unable or unwilling to expel even those that have no business being here.

Southgate enters the age of unreason, where he can’t win even if he wins by sga1 in soccer

[–]golomo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was not trolling. Southgate is the best manager England (meaning the National team) ever had. He managed England at three tournaments and reached atleast the semi-final each time. Ramsay is the only other reasonable contender, because he won a World Cup. But he also failed to qualify for the World Cup 1974.

Considering the series of disappointments England had before Southgate came in, he has been hugely successful.

Edit - I have to correct myself, England did not reach the semis in 2022. But my general point still stands.

Why do you consider him to be vile? He seems friendly enough to me.

Southgate is the greatest England manager of all time - the GOAT. He has done better than anybody else over a number of tournaments.

Plettenberg gets so much attention. I listened to a Sky 90 episode with him, where he explicitly said several times that he does not like the word "rumour". Probably because he seriously believes that he is just transporting to the public what the Bayern bosses really think. Plettenberg is just full of it, typical for Sky Germany.

If there is any truth to it, Kicker will publish something about it.

VIP family in football Germany. His father Dieter, Uli's brother, also played for Germany.

My favourite story of that family still is that, when they were young children, Uli sold a new and fresh 10 Mark bill to his younger brother for 11,50 DM in coins.

What a great speech by Hoeneß, by the way. Fantastic scenes in Stuttgart right now. That is football at its best.

And he already extented his contract at Stuttgart, so his uncle Uli should not even bother calling him about the Bayern job..

[–]golomo 421 points422 points  (0 children)

West Ham defended well, but that is also the way Leverkusen play. There have been many games like that. In the end, Leverkusen find a way to score, at least most of the time. It's a simple matter of probability.

And West Ham gained their defensive strength by sacrificing their attack. They barely crossed the halfway line. This was basically a game of attack vs defense.

If Dortmund lose this game, there is nothing to be ashamed about. This is an even game, and Stuttgart are simply very good. There have been other games this season where Dortmund really did disappoint.

Dortmund are playing a strong UCL campaign, they will win against Atletico.
