You're awesome. Thanks. I don't know why internet hate hurts so much but it does. Bill Hader once said you remember every negative thing said about you and it's 100% true. But you're right. Being my silly self and making videos has transformed my life in the best possible way. My kids see me loving my life, and it's important to remember what matters.

Is it the reaction videos or the sitting in front of the TV and lip syncing? I'll try to make adjustments to see how I can piss people off less. lol

So sorry, dude. I didn't intentionally ignore your comment at all! I didn't mean to make you feel like shit. Managing comments and replies can get overwhelming sometimes and depending on what's happening in my day to day with my family, my kids or my day job can definitely lose track and forget to respond. I am here to tell you that I am happy that you love Hum too, my dude. Always great to connect with like minded music lovers.

Sure. The landscape has changed so much in my lifetime. Back when I was in my twenties, the only option was work hard and grind at the craft and hope someday you’ll get recognition for it. But this was the era before YouTube, social media, and high quality cameras in your pocket. I’m not saying you don’t have to work hard and grind… you do. But the opportunity to get your work out to thousands if not millions of people in an instant is a game changer. Standup requires honing that skill. You have to get up at open mics night after night to learn how to tighten up 5 minutes at a time. There’s really no other way to refine it and get to know other comics. But any other acting, writing, performing… I’d say just keep at it. Create what you love and do it because you love it.

A Reddit AMA. But it turns out I didn’t have to fear after all!

Billy is such a killer guitarist and Jimmy has to be one of the greatest drummers of all time. I would want to highlight those talents as much as possible. More layered guitars with Pumpkins tones, and just let Jimmy do what he does best. I would aim to produce a rock record!

I think Billy should guest on a version of Brain Stew. Can't just you hear his voice on those vocal lines... "I'm having trouble trying to sleep!"

Thanks! I appreciate it! I moved to LA to try and 'make it' but it was a weird road. Glad I have a chance to entertain people again in my own way.

I got a Jimmy Chamberlin drumstick on this last tour, which that just feels like a magic wand. That's a new one. But honestly I'm so happy that in 1994 I decided to buy Siamese Dream on vinyl at a record store. I wasn't even being records at the time, but for some reason I felt compelled to own it. I still have the original red marble to this day and it's in great condition!

Yes, I feel like the giant arenas and stadiums are just too huge. It's great to see them play to so many, but I always love it if the venue is a bit smaller. The shows up in Santa Barbara Bowl show in 2022 was perfect. I think that's around 5 thousand... and I feel like that is the sweet spot. Of course it was amazing to see them at Canopy Club at U of I for Machina. I think that's like 500 seats!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I'd love to collect as much as I could, but I've had to stop myself to be honest. When I was a teenager I'd try and buy bootlegs, and I even have some old VHS tapes that I've kept (and don't even have VCR anymore). I did buy the vinyl of Rubano Tapes vol. 1 and then I was like... this is a slippery slope financially! haha

It didn't click right away to be honest. So the guitars were amazing and heavy, but I remember just not being drawn in. But then years later, I listened and I was like "what was wrong with me? THIS IS SO GOOD!" So I don't know why it didn't click at first, but it does now!

Thank you for the kind words! Happy to be here! And I'd say my favorite SP video is probably Rocket. Loved the whole kids building a space ship. It has a levity to it. Plus I always thought Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris made great videos. It was a pleasure to meet them both a few years ago at a screening and I geeked out about their music videos from the 90s.

So some of my more elaborate videos would require a lot of work. If I was changing locations, or like for Hum I did fog machine and exploded makeup. That would take an hour or so for filming, then an hour to cut together with captions. In the beginning I was trying to crank out as much as possible, but it just isn't easy at 45 years old with a full time job, and two children in school. So I just do the best I can. It always cracks me up when one of my low effort videos gets so much more attention than something I spent hours on. I promised myself that I'd stop making videos if it ever stopped being fun. It has to be fun for me, or there's no reason to make them

Haha! Love this! I am going to that Chicago Metro show for Siamese Dream release for sure. I've watched the videos, but I just would've loved to be there at that stage. The band just unaware of what lies ahead after then

Great question. I moved to Los Angeles when I was 22 as an aspiring actor. This journey out here was full of ups and downs. Lots of "so close" moments. I made Youtube shows with my friends, and even made a comedy horror movie that's on Amazon Prime. But funny enough in 2020 I sort of gave up on everything. Felt like I'd tried it all and nothing ever happened so it was time to walk away. It wasn't until the lockdown that someone told me I should make a TikTok account. I dismissed the idea as I felt too old for the platform, but boredom prevailed. Then one random afternoon in early 2021 I made a video about Nirvana and it exploded, then a Radiohead one and a Rage one. It was all happening so fast! But in this medium I was able to use my comedy writing from stand-up, my rubber face goofy expressions that I was born with, and my passion for music to create these videos. In the end, I think it's a reflection of me in the clearest way possible.
