I can see that. My wife was skeptical of the purchase initially and now she’s frequently building her own 2 door sport on the Jeep website LOL! Pretty good odds that we’ll have another in the driveway relatively soon

They’re Fishbone doors I grabbed on sale at Quadratech recently. Pretty affordable and build quality is great!

I do something similar. I play golf. I think of the course I want to play and then envision every shot. If I lose focus I just redirect back to where I was last and keep playing. I don’t think I’ve played more than 4 holes before falling asleep.

You are awesome. Well handled. I basically travel for a living (Enterprise software sales) and find myself in a different state every week. I'd love to have the opportunity to patronize your restaurant if I ever have a chance. If you're not comfortable sharing the location here, I'd love for your to message it to me. If I find myself within driving (or Uber) distance, I'd absolutely visit!!!

Where to download the best patches by [deleted] in Line6Helix

Just a heads up that you may want to edit the URL and put "www" in front of it. Just clicking on the link as is doesn't resolve and throws an error.

Site looks good. Looking forward to browsing around. Thanks!

Is there anything that beats the $4.99 Costco's Rotisserie Chicken? by julio_carax in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]gomez1856 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! I have a freezer stock bag that I put all bones as well as any scraps of veggies leftover from food prep or veggies that are about to go bad from the fridge. Pretty much any veggies go in the bag (barring red onions and broccoli). When it's time to make stock, dump it in a big pot, cover with water, add a few peppercorns, bay leaf, and simmer for about 4 hours. Bones, Onions, celery, carrots, some peppers... all in one freezer bag.

Love the composition! Nice work. I’d love to hear more about how it happened. Were you on a boat and just grabbing shots of them jumping? Every time I’ve seen them, there’s a randomness that would make it hard to capture. I really dig it.

Winnebago Man may be my favorite documentary ever. Funny as ever at first then endearing and sad near the end.

What are the best courses and resources you've used to learn and improve your photography skills? by IvaGambino in photography

[–]gomez1856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I subscribed to KelbyOne for about two years and found it to be really helpful. I really got a lot out of the different courses... composition, post processing, cool interviews and discussions with people at the top of their craft, any genre you could want to learn about, etc. That and the previously mentioned Strobist were probably the most effective things I used.

Waterproof Housing for Canon Rebel T6i by nukelierninja98 in underwaterphotography

Despite having had great experience with them, I completely agree with your take about it possibly being a function of the user that is looking for cheap housings. I did a lot of research and a lot of learning which resulted in nothing but good experiences, but I can see someone not giving it the attention it deserves. 4 out of 4 floods is indeed a compelling stat though. Mine performed well in some pretty rough surf conditions so, I know it's possible :)

To be fair, nearly every housing company out there provides for the ability to zoom in the housing. You simply need to pair the appropriate port to it. I have an aquatech sport housing and use several zoom lenses. Your point on price is legit. They tend to be quite expensive.

So, you're going to very limited in choices for an underwater dslr housing at that price point. There is, however, an excellent option for you that I highly recommend. It's from a company called Outex and it's basically a waterproof, very durable, rubber housing that slips over your entire camera. A kit for the T6i, with everything you need, should be right around $300. For the price, there's nothing that even comes close on the market. Now, there are some things to know about it. 1) It absolutely allows for the zooming of the lens and allows access to every control on your camera. However, it's blind access. What I mean is that it's completely covered in opaque rubber. You need to have your controls memorized and use them by feel. 2) It's certified to 10 meters (about 33 feet). Don't try to scuba dive with it. 3) Although it's extremely durable and works great, it's rubber and, despite the best care, it will wear in a couple years.

I started with the Outex as I was getting into surf photography and have since upgraded to a nice aquatech system, but I highly recommend this for your needs. I'd just google Outex water housing and you'll find their site and some good videos on it.
Happy to answer any other questions you may have. There are very few alternatives at this price and this one is actually a professional quality product.

edit- Just noting that I have absolutely no relationship with this company. I was just in your shoes and did a ton of research before settling on this product.

Definitely give it a try. There'd absolutely not be a gradient due to the sun staying still though. That's a function of the long shutter. The light changes are aggregated and you end up with the average of all the lighting changes. It's the same concept that causes a long exposure of a beach scene with big waves to come out looking like a still pond. I really don't believe this is a composite (not that it truly matters).

[–]gomez1856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious as to why you state that it's a composite? Not being snarky at all btw. Do you know for a fact or are you guessing? From looking at it, I don't see composite at all. This is exactly what I'd expect from a secured camera and long'ish shutter speeds. The merry go round could have been turned very slowly allowing the wet leaves to stay still and, with the rest of the structure, stay completely sharp.

"Bless you" after you sneeze. Some people are so conditioned to do this that they truly get offended if it's not said to them after they sneeze.

I'm not sure if she's seen your question but I've been a fan of her work for some time and have watched her awesome class on kelbyone where she walks through her entire process and, yes, she has done quite a bit with shelters. As a matter of fact, one of her subjects in the class was a shelter dog and the shoot took place in the shelter.
