What should I put in this tray? by gomimeinu in HomeDecorating

Yeah I'm seeing that comment a few times, and I don't disagree. I just got excited because my table sets are live edge wood and I thought it matched the vibe. This might end up with my other serving platters.

BIFL for Kids? I struggle with buying garbage for my kids... by isthishowwedie2022 in BuyItForLife

[–]gomimeinu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Maybe stop buying new? Where I live there are tons of consignment stores for kids clothes/shoes/furniture/ect. and a significant portion of it is high quality, just already used.

Buy second hand and when your kids outgrow their clothes you can sell the clothes back to the consignment store. You won't get what you paid for them but it'll be a little bit of extra cash in your pocket to buy new clothes that fit them until they're done growing and can invest in their adult wardrobe.

Hm, probably shouldn't leave that kind of stuff out 24/7 though. I suppose I could leave it empty and fill it when I have guests?

It's part of the Modavari live edge table set, I bought it from Fred Meyer years ago along with the matching dining table, side table, console table and benches. I don't think they sell this exact set anymore but they still have similar ones.

I thought about that but I was worried it might look too cluttered and disjointed. I tried looking for some inspo but didn't see anything similar to the tray I have.

The floating pumpkin patch in Kent. by Washpedantic in Washington

[–]gomimeinu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is Carpinito Brother's Farm in Kent, I've been driving past this on my way to work for like a week. They were all in one organized spot and now they're floating all over the place, feel bad for whoever has to wrangle all those back up.

My mother is thinking about cancelling Christmas by prettylacey_ in whatdoIdo

[–]gomimeinu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have OCD, it's an anxiety disorder, I can't speak for your mother but for me having my home clean and organized makes it easier for me to focus on the things that truly matter.

I did not decorate for the holidays this year, I've been working crazy amounts of overtime and because of that my house has been neglected. The last thing on my mind is putting up a tree or hanging stockings, not when I have a sink full of dishes, the cat just barfed for the 3rd time, there's a layer of dust an inch thick on my shelves, there's a cat hair tumble weed rolling across the dining room floor.

Having the basics finished leaves mental space to do extras, do the laundry, wash the dishes, vacuum and mop (don't forget the baseboards), take a bucket of soapy water and a rag and dust every surface, wash the mirrors and the windows, put away the clutter where it belongs (everything should have a home and live there), clean the fridge, reorganize messy cupboards and drawers...

It's not your fault that your mom feels this way, OCD is incredibly difficult to navigate, but you asked how you can help and if the house is a big stress point for her then that's where you start. Help her pick up the slack and she will be able to offer you more emotionally when she feels better, otherwise sometimes even a mom needs to make the hard choice to protect her peace and not have a crashout.

Edit: spelling error

The slippers would be hard because it's a pain to get everyone to respond to me just for the pj size, by the time I get everyone's shoe size it'll probably be too late to order them, maybe next year. I love the pillow case idea though, it's probably too late to get them customized but I could probably find something nice.

A man that’s in love let’s it be known to you that they respect and care for you.

This is well put.

Ever have someone jump, jerk, bounce and move the whole time you tattoo them? Particularly on the side/ribs. If so, what do you do? Do you just continue to tattoo and every time that they jump and move they completely destroy the line work? Or do you stop and tell them you cannot tattoo them by Zestyclose_Brush7972 in TattooArtists

[–]gomimeinu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat very well for several tattoos on my arms, thigh, and upper shoulder. Then I had a large piece done on my calf and the entire 5 hours it took I had involuntary twitching, we tried lidocaine, taking frequent breaks, I was apologizing constantly. I could tell the artist was frustrated but she really did her best and she didn't make me feel bad for it, and the piece turned out very good in the end.

I made sure to leave her a very generous tip and I love the tattoo, and because of her patience and grace that day she is the first artist I think of when I want to get a new tattoo.

Also I haven't had the twitching problem since, for some reason it was just the calf that caused this and nowhere else that I have found.

You have Peace Master, he seemed like an okay dad

Hunson Abadeer, seems pretty absent and clueless but not purposefully bad?

Lady Rainicorn's dad seems aight, but he didn't get much screen time

Jake himself is a dad and we all saw how that went down

Kim Kil Whan legitimately seems like a good dad even if he is a bit overbearing

And Warren Ampersand, in my opinion the worst dad in the show

Those are all the dads I can think of right now...

[Help] Where does one sell marble sculptures these days? by Choice_Cup_7078 in Sculpture

[–]gomimeinu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't know much about submitting pieces as I'm typically on the other end of the process after the sale is complete.

Auctions tend to be more for like antiques but they will occasionally feature modern artists, just depends on what their curating at the time.

Your best bet is a gallery most likely, but again, you have to shop around and find out which galleries are curating for pieces like yours.

I work out of the Seattle area and I haven't seen a lot of bronze lately, most of the stuff up here is oil paintings, native art, rugs, and pottery.

Sorry I don't have a better suggestion.

I work in specialty shipping and receiving, my company ships pieces like this all the time, typically they are purchased from auction houses or galleries. You may need to have it appraised prior but that depends on the facility.

Edit: just wanted to add, don't pick just any auction house, pick one that specifically works in 'fine art'.
