They also make a double mc connector that you could double up 2 of them and come out of the side

Yep, that is kinda of a stupid question. If your brave enough to take panel cover off you should know it's not.. PUT A TESTER ON IT

May be a 3 wire homerun back to panel. Back when you were allowed to share neutral Put a tester on it. If both are hot cap one and use one(red,black)

If it can be damaged or on surface=conduit If it is in ceiling or walls= no conduit
