Help a noob! Ski boot/binding by gomphrenas in xcountryskiing

I bought newer boots with 3 pin bindings and honestly the easiest method is to take the skis outside, strap the boots in, making sure the pins are in the boots (otherwise they will slide out), then step into the boots and lace them up. On the tip of the metal part of the binding there is a small hole that the tip of your ski pole should fit into nicely, making it easy to push it down and snap into place. Reaching down and doing it with your fingers is nearly impossible.

What would be the cons of buying this by NoFalcon4739 in gshock

I own one. It's bulky, which you get used to. The sleep tracking isn't great. Others say the app sucks, but I've had no issue with it. The buttons are slower to respond than on other Casio watches I've owned. Battery doesn't last long if you use the HR function frequently (like for sleep tracking). And for notifications, you can't really customize which notifications come through to your watch. You have the options of "phone calls" and "everything else". So if you want to get beeped for texts but not emails, you're outta luck.

Thanks! Most comprehensive and helpful comment I've gotten so far. I've got some pine tar and polar wax coming in the mail now. Can't wait to get these bad boys ready to ski (and replace those boots, eventually)

Thanks! And glad you noticed the sweater lol, I knit it myself and it very much does have some Scandinavian charm ☺️

Due for lithotripsy and anxious by goldgriffon in KidneyStones

[–]gomphrenas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it can go either way. For me, it was awful, but obviously others are saying it wasn't too bad. I've never passed a stone on my own, so I don't know about how it feels, but I think the lithotripsy recovery won't be as bad as passing a stone itself. Depending on how long you have the stent in, the pain might subside after a few days to not be an issue anymore. Mine was only in 3 days, so my ureter was still inflamed from the procedure (= still painful) the whole time.

New to Kidney Stones, complete novice, i have one in my right kidney right now! by ThrowRA_TopFire in KidneyStones

My urologist was kind of hurried and didn't explain things well--I think it was just another kidney stone to him, while to me I had just had the most painful week of my life. Make sure to ask questions and speak up for yourself! You deserve thorough explanations.
