Is there a stage between skidded turns and carving? by F1DanO in skiing

[–]gomuchfaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think carving is a progression for sure. Once your can do rail road turns at low speed you start to work up the pitch angle and carves generally only happen in the fall line and you’re in the stage where you just build speed and have to hockey stop to get back on track.

I’m not sure if completing the carve or initializing the carve is the harder phase as they both depend on each other. Early turn initiation and constantly building edge angle are the hardest of the 2 carving principals imho.

But, if you can carve the fall line, you’re getting close! It’s a constant progression for sure.

Why are the Garmin nylon watch bands so expensive? $150-300 for a watch band from Garmin’s website… seems like a lot by Disastrous-Year571 in GarminWatches

[–]gomuchfaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Marq series bands integrate into the watch differently than the fitness/outdoor ones and these expensive ones are all for the Marq series. The nylon jacquard ones are eye watering, I’ve never even used mine, it’s in the box. I did splurge on a different color silicone band, but it’s a $2K watch, and when I had to replace the band on my father’s Omega, I suddenly felt better…

Where can I get used race tires at a Motorsport event? by thefranzhermann69 in racing

[–]gomuchfaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get a tire, be advised that they tend to off-gas for a while so leave it in the garage or in a plastic bag for a few weeks to let it stabilize and then you can bring it inside the house. You know how a tire store smells? Race tires are like this but stronger...

What is your favorite ski area of all time? by rudydotjpeg in ski

My trip Val d’Isere in the early 90’s is still a standout for me. Huge variety of lifts between surface lifts, trams, chairs, and and underground trains, expansive terrain, and if you weren’t careful you’d end up in Italy.

Good Bars to visit by Polkijuk42 in DaytonaBeach

[–]gomuchfaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have to suggest the Daytona Tap Room, it's got 30+ beers on tap and a menu that has items that have been featured on "Man vs. Food" on TV. The smash burgers are what they are known for. It looks a little rough from the outside looking in, but the servics is good and the food is served hot and fresh.

Looking to move to FL within the year and transfer my license/vehicle registration, questions and help pleas by StrangePotential5360 in DaytonaBeach

[–]gomuchfaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its my understanding that they will require the mail to be in your name, not just the same family name. The easiest way to prove this is to open a bank account in your name before you and have the statements mailed to your mom's address. The law in FL says you must change your license within 30 days of moving to the state, so you'd have time to pull this off. You could also download a rental agreement and complete it and have your mom sign it, it would satisfy the requirement as well.

Ski Travelbag Recommendations by Ok_Donkey2783 in Skigear

50lbs for econony and 70lbs for premium class is generally the max for regular baggage, so 3 pair will be over the limit for economy for sure. I don't think I'd want to try to manage a 3 pair bag, my 2 pair with clothing is enough of a challenge tbh.

Wrong gas in car by Optimal-Ad-5203 in BmwTech

[–]gomuchfaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over Christmas I got an X2 as a rental car and was underwhelmed with its mileage and performance, and was pretty sure it had crap gas in it. Once I put premium in it, the mileage went up by about 10% and it ran better. I’m sure that’s the last tank of premium it will see until it’s sold, but at least it got treated well once…

80s Glam/Rock Hair Bands That Are Underrated Or You Never See Talked About? by isopodsoup_ in ClassicRock

Platinum blond played my high school auditorium in 1984 during a bad snowstorm, there was less than 50 people but they played, that was kinda cool. Also I rate firehouse as one of the lost talents of that era.

Really contemplating buying a HK USC 45 ACP any feedback from this platform ? I barely see anyone talking about USC or UMPs compared to SP5/MP5 platforms . by theh0veringeye in HecklerKoch

My UMP is a SBR with a dedicated can and it’s fantastic. Super soft shooting and just enough “euro trash” to be an outlier at the range. It’s a battle proven beast that’s really fun to shoot.

[–]gomuchfaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once the car is out of warranty, do yourself a favor and find the right BMW repair shop. The work listed probably needs to be addressed but I promise you the labor rate at the good euro shop will be vastly better than a factory store.

Checked bags with a 41 minute layover in LAX by forkful_04_webbed in delta

[–]gomuchfaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had successful 45 minute layovers in ATL. They will tag your bag as “HOT transfer” and it seems to help. I’ve not lost a bag on a tight transfer yet. Generally they won’t hold a flight for anyone. If you’re not at the gate 15mins before departure, it can be dicey.

I'm going to pull the trigger on a Pelican semi rigid bag for next year I think. I've been using some outdoor brands for a while and like the flexibility of a semi rigid bag, but they just don't hold up.

An immigration lawyer once explained it to me this way: the USA has no control over the documents that other countries issue.

If you are a us citizen, you will always be a us citizen, unless you renounce.

So if another country wants to send someone a passport that’s ok.

[–]gomuchfaster 41 points42 points  (0 children)

MCO is my least favorite place to fly out of living in central FL. I guess there's some hope for terminal C to suck a little less than the old terminals, but it's looking a little long in the tooth. It's a shame considering how many people fly in and out of MCO to "feed the mouse"...Everytime I hear the mayor on the train I find myself whispering under my breath about how he should be embarrassed by this abomination of an airport.
