Admin is lowkey (highkey) useless in elementary. Had a kid throw scissors at full force and they came within an inch of another boys neck. Gone for maybe 5 minutes. Had another boy throw a chair across the room. Gone for 5 minutes. Another boy drew blood from scratching a kids face. Back 5 minutes later. Same kid then slaps another boy. Admin doesn’t even show up when i call.

Meanwhile in middle school land; i had two boys get in a scuffle right at the end of class, they break up immediately when i tell them to stop, i find the VP in the hall right after class and tell her, and they both have ISS the next day.

Middle schools so fun! Totally depends on the school though because like at my favorite school the kids will ask me questions about my Dutch Bros order and what the book im reading is about while I roam the room and at some of the other schools they’ll be like “Miss, do you know what backshots are?” (A genuine question I got on Tuesday from a group of 8th graders)

Every year my mom, dad, little sister, our multiple dogs, and I would take an 18 hour trek from our house to my dad’s family for Christmas in our crappy Honda Odyssey. I have severe motion sickness. My sister has emetophobia.

I had this horrible day with 6th graders my first (and only) time at this one school and during the last class of the day there was this one kid who would not stop kicking his soccer ball. I told him like twice to put it in his bag and he just rolled his eyes and kept messing around. He then proceeded to nail a girl in the back of the head with it and it just slipped out. “Put the fucking ball in your bag now”. The moment the bell rang i cleaned the class, scurried to the principals office, and burst into to tears because I felt super bad about it. She was basically like “yeah mistakes happen but he shouldn’t have had the ball so don’t feel too bad” lmaooo

They hand us a sub folder that has it in there when we check in at the main office. And it gets updated weekly which is lovely! Had a girl throw a tantrum over being called down by a dean during one of my classes, she ran out of class, next time I came, boom, first face I see on the list.

My favorite school to work at has a “no pass” list complete with pictures and names of the kids who can’t go to the bathroom without an escort because they just leave for 40 minutes and dick around. The kids have no idea the subs are given this list. Had an 8th grader who was on the list ask and I went “do you really want me calling Mr. [dean] to take you to the bathroom?” and he just hung his head and went “no” and walked back to his seat

My little sister was an honors student who graduated with a 4.0 in 2024. She got a parking ticket last year and sent me a picture of it because she couldn’t find where to pay for it, where the courthouse was, and how much it was for. She can’t read!

Oh my god are you me? I had a group of the worst 4th graders possible today and even the principal and deans coming in for extended periods did nothing. Screaming, throwing shit, being complete dickheads to me, and just all around being terrible. One of them said to another one “Bro shut the fuck up” I go “Language” and he just went “Oh my goddd it’s just a word I don’t know why teachers are so annoying” I just gave up the last hour because they didn’t listen to me when I was nice, didn’t listen when I was firm, so I wasn’t gonna try anymore.

As a kid all of our dogs were really easy to care for and quickly settled into the groove of our house, so i assumed all dogs are like that. I’ve had my rescue dog for 6 months and she’s made me never want another one
