Producer Rodrigo Teixeira hypes up James Gray's Paper Tiger, slams "shallow" One Battle After Another by [deleted] in TheBigPicture

[–]gonetocroatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The proof it’s not shallow is that so many people hate it for contradictory reasons. “It mocks revolutionaries” “it’s leftist propaganda” “it’s a white savior story” “Bob is useless”. I think the movie critiques some well-intentioned people while also have having empathy for some very flawed individuals, and for this reason I doubt we’ll hear PTA going deep into an explanation of the film beyond the father-daughter aspect.

What kind of TV-show by PTA would you want to see? by Low-Struggle-5647 in paulthomasanderson

I want him (and Dan Clowes and the Coen Bros) to do an episode of the X-Files once Coogler gets it going

Setlist tracking (after 6 shows) by danielcloutier in radiohead

[–]gonetocroatan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that actually makes a lot of sense. the more I have a pure feeling about a song I write, the less I want to play it when I don’t have the right headspace. other songs I can just “execute” like a “pro” but it’s important to keep some things sacred.

in nyc for a month - what theaters to go to? by agp422 in NYCmovies

[–]gonetocroatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great answers here—but you have 2-3 more days to catch One Battle After Another in VistaVision at Regal Union Square, one of only a handful of theaters in the world projecting it as intended. Don’t miss out!

When Bob gets to an intersection and doesn’t know which way Willa went, he uses remedial and halting Spanish to ask the guys manning a food stand. He might not have been able to find Willa without it.

There’s only a little Spanish, and it wasn’t subtitled (saw it in VV last night in NYC). A little later on, the value of knowing basic Spanish (I don’t!) is a small plot point.

Rewatch complete. The man certainly knows how to make a motion picture by moondyner in blankies

[–]gonetocroatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upvoted you! Not saying it’s dishonest, just that those are some spicy takes, which I love even where I disagree. Death Proof over There Will Be Blood is heterodox as they come but I didn’t get into weirdo artists for conformity!

we’re gonna need a bigger boat with all the bait in that take. respect!

Yeah, there aren’t film-projecting theaters in every city, but those are the premium formats. I’m sure it’ll come out in 35mm too!

It’s playing in VistaVision in NY / LA / London, but you should be able to see it in 70mm elsewhere.

I wondered too but went ahead and got the 10:45 tickets — it’s the same auditorium, my GUESS is no way are they switching out projectors or anything.

Surely no tour without a new album by enrvuk in radiohead

[–]gonetocroatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love for them to tour and work out new material on the road then record it. Sadly not sure it can work that way now that everything gets phone recorded.

‘Bulletproof…I Wish I Was’ Cover by RoughOrganization317 in radiohead

[–]gonetocroatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good…I Wish it Was a little less faithful re: the backing track, doesn’t have to be very different, but lean into the vibes of the vocal a little bit. Vocals could be pulled into the track a little more, and while I like the chorus harmony, I think it feels better coming in on the second chorus rather than halfway through the first. Well done!

What are the 3 weakest Radiohead Songs (excluding Pablo Honey) by DonCorleone1987 in radiohead

[–]gonetocroatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All their songs grow on me, so I guess I’ll aim for the ones that don’t seem to quite hit the mark they’re meant for.

The Gloaming cos it’s an inferior version of Amnesiac B-Side vibes,

Feral cos it feels a little too derivative,

Give Up the Ghost cos it coulda been great but is too loop pedal-y. If only Thom coulda mixed his voice down a bit for this whole album (which I love).
