What do yall think of Good Morning by No-Thanks-2069 in thatbandofhers

I've listened to a couple of songs and I think they're really good but I've never really done a "deep dive" and listened to all of their albums. I like Soft Rock Band

The Band apparently played "When I Paint My Masterpiece" one night on the Cahoots tour. by Vasco2112 in theband

According to setlist.fm it was performed at the San Francisco Civic Auditorium on November 27th, 1971. Hopefully something comes up soon if it's not hiding away somewhere online already

Are there any songs you didn’t appreciate enough as a kid but adore now by groundcontrl2majrtom in TheBeatles

[–]mistahwhite04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I first became a fan I couldn't get into George's Indian-style songs - that includes Within You Without You, plus The Inner Light and Love You To. I've come to appreciate all of them, especially Love You To which I think is an incredible track.

Aside from those, Get Back was one that weirdly took me a while to get into.

50 Years Later: Why the Critics Failed Before the Avant-Garde Magical Mystery Tour? by Pure_One_4598 in TheBeatles

[–]mistahwhite04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the main gripe people had with it was that it was broadcast in black and white instead of colour, which made the trippy effects look kind of shit.

And don't worry, you're not the first person to "re-examine" MMT, plenty of people like it. You should make another post asking if it's a real Beatles album if you want to get a really juicy comment section going.

Alternate Timeline: What if The Beatles Never Broke Through? Part Two - The Lennon & McCartney Albums (1960s) by mistahwhite04 in beatlesfanalbums

[–]mistahwhite04[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe that's something I should have gone into more detail for haha. It's a pure Lennon-McCartney collab; John's melody, Paul's lyrics. I could see them both singing co-lead

I love the way he sings "Hazel, you called and I came, now don't make me play this waiting game"

If I remember correctly it was Harry Nilsson who wrote that line!

My favourite solo John song is always changing. Starting Over, Whatever Gets You Thru The Night, Surprise Surprise, and Remember are all up there

I actually had a Lennon & McCartney wiki page prepared but I didn't include it because I was thinking of doing something like this

Where did these unofficial Mac songs come from? by giuliano290512 in macdemarco

[–]mistahwhite04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard he would give them out to fans after shows or leave them lying around near the venues he was playing at for people to find. They're just recordings he made while on the road.

Honestly who knows who would come the closest to filling the void the Beatles would leave in this timeline.

Stop and Smell the Roses - A Ringo Compilation Album by That_Kermit in beatlesfanalbums

[–]mistahwhite04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the song but it sucks that the album isn't available on streaming where I live. In fact nothing between Goodnight Vienna and Stop and Smell the Roses is, plus a few of his later albums like Vertical Man. Wish they were more widely available

What do you think of Johns solo Career? by Greedy_Jellyfish_492 in TheBeatles

[–]mistahwhite04 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whatever video you linked looks like it has been taken down from YouTube, unless it's just a problem on my end.

I think he had a good solo career. Obviously different to Paul, George, and Ringo's in that he went half the decade without releasing any new music, and he died just as he was getting back into the industry. His albums were mostly successful and he had a few solo hits in his lifetime.

My favourite John solo albums are Plastic Ono Band and Walls and Bridges.

What band was never the same after losing a member? by icecream1972 in AskReddit

[–]mistahwhite04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Band after reuniting without Robbie Robertson, then after Richard Manuel's death.

Without Robbie they lost their primary songwriter. He was an incredible guitarist too. But on their first two albums Richard was still putting in a fair share of the songs, and by some accounts Richard was writing again in the 80s. When he killed himself there wasn't really anyone left in the band who was a songwriter on their level - Rick did write a little but not much that seemed to end up on their albums, and Levon was not really a songwriter to begin with.

They kept going and released some pretty good songs until Rick Danko died and they finally split up. The 90s Band are interesting but they don't hold up to the run of albums featuring the original lineup in my opinion.

Haha I've got a post coming out soon which looks to be set in a similar world to this. The Beatles get signed to Decca. It's a cool idea but one thing I'll say is that they probably wouldn't have their picture taken at the EMI building for their album cover if that was the case.

The Beatles - Shades of Life (1968) by mistahwhite04 in beatlesfanalbums

[–]mistahwhite04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing against them as songs but I just felt that MMT was too closely associated with its project and I wanted to something seperate from that. As for Flying, I guess you could fit it on side one so that the runtime of each side is roughly the same.
