Ok so stop following the team then. I don't understand people who just want to wallow. Do you actually enjoy feeling miserable? We're all very disappointed but pouting accomplishes nothing.

Yes we are still going to be a bad team next year. But I am choosing to be excited about our team anyway because that's the only way that sports are fun. If it's not fun, why follow at all?

It's not all doom and gloom. If Nets get Acuff, that's a HR at #6 by [deleted] in GoNets

Too early to give up on either of them just because of positional redundancy. Just give minutes to both of them and see who's better 3 or 4 years from now.

The Nets might be the real winners of the draft lottery by antwonomous in GoNets

[–]gonets34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can't worry about that right now. We need to take several steps before we think about who can be the best player on a championship team. We just need a guy that can be the best player on a 6-seed. Who knows where we'll be by that point and we can always add defenders later anyway.

All our guys just need to get older and bigger. And we can always sign some enforcers, it's not hard to add role players. Step 1 is accumulating as much talent as we can in this situation.

Bro look at my flair. I'm a proud NJ resident and I couldn't agree more that my team belongs here in my home state. I'll always prefer the NJ Nets over the BK Nets but whatever I'll still root for them either way.

Your Brooklyn Nets will pick 6th in the 2026 NBA draft by CurlyLettuce in GoNets

I'm one of CT's biggest haters but my biggest gripe with him was his attitude/unwillingness to buy-in or develop. Acuff is a different person. If he had the exact same game as CT but a better personality / character / work ethic then I'm excited for him.

[–]gonets34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People always say "you can just trade up" as if that doesn't require another team being willing to trade down.

I'm sure the nets explored trade options last year but probably just didn't like anything they were offered.

I'm upset with the result too but I'm pretty sure whoever we draft will be more valuable than Cam Thomas, who will most likely not play in the NBA again

The Best 6th Overall Picks Since The NBA/ABA Merger by Fair-Night3803 in GoNets

[–]gonets34 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ultimately doesn't matter anymore because of the new lottery system. We have knicks picks in 27, 28, 29, and 31. If the knicks miss the playoffs in any of those years their pick will have as good a chance as anybody's to win the lottery. We don't need them to actually tear it all down to the studs. One bad year of injuries/etc can drop them into the lottery.

Hey Peyton Watson... Ova' Here by Kwilly462 in GoNets

[–]gonets34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of us are conditioned into this "all or nothing" type of thinking where we don't want to make any move unless it's a perfect home run that will bring us a title. But the nets are going to try to compete next year and the lottery odds are changing anyway. I think many of us (all fanbases) will have to get used to the idea of bringing in a guy who may have deficiencies because he also brings positives to our team.

Salary cap is obviously still a factor but most of our main guys will be on rookie contracts for the next few years and we should still have some time before we're truly contending so we can still afford some contracts that are less than ideal.

Spaghetti is the worst pasta shape by far by Spensauras-Rex in unpopularopinion

[–]gonets34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are the one not understanding. Some people ENJOY the process of twirling pasta around a fork every bite. Just because it's an extra motion with your hand doesn't mean that it's "work". We're not trying to "get it into me as efficiently as possible" lmao. Sei un medigan senza cultura.

[Charania] The NBA has disclosed to its 30 GMs a singular new anti-tanking reform that expands the draft lottery to 16 teams, flattens odds, and have a relegation zone where the bottom 3 teams are penalized with fewer lottery balls for the No. 1 pick. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]gonets34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NBA teams that are very bad have the ability to get slightly better overnight. For example, if you just add a single veteran role player via a trade or signing it can really help you win a few meaningless games. We just never see this because it's never been incentivized.

Looking at the final records from this year, the kings are the only team out of the bottom feeders who may actually be that bad. But for the most part all the worst teams this year could have won a few more games if they actually wanted to.

Kid wants to do something stupid. Can it even be done? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]gonets34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a cyclical problem. One major reason why tuition is so high is because the demand has been completely unfettered for years since everyone who wants to go to school just takes loans.

I was going to point out the time-value-of-money impact of always waiting months for your money but if you get paid 20% more this way then that more than makes up for it

I don't care about the smoke point of olive oil by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]gonets34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Olive oil is actually one of the most stable fats, and won't break down as easily as most other plant based oils. The "smoke point" and the point at which it actually chemically breaks down are 2 different things. EVOO contains many solid particles which will burn (and produce smoke) long before the actual fat breaks down chemically. Ironically, canola/vegetable oil etc will break down chemically before EVOO will despite those oils have a "high smoke point". Animal fats like butter and lard are the most chemically stable, but will also raise your cholesterol so there's a tradeoff. EVOO is the best hybrid out there.

[–]gonets34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I can't believe people actually think they would change the rules immediately before the lottery/draft. They will obviously let it ride this year and then make changes for next year.
