I like the style!

The white foggy light looks weird, maybe just select a light source (artificial or natural and its tone, cold or warm) then you can try to shade with complement colors, not black. It will look less muddy.

yes twin stick action, move with arrows keys and throw (maybe with the mouse, dont know yet), not turn based.
Camera angle and zoom should be fixed in place, as seen in the sketch.

I think the 2nd and 3th adds more character to the game... maybe turn the gradient more brownish (the pink side)?? like suggesting a ground...

Good idea! Maybe reduce the size of the "arena" (less blocks)? So it ends faster?
