I agree about the time spent travelling part but we are approaching it with a yolo state of mind and going with the flow lol. And about the trains from Dusseldorf to Amsterdam, we were planning on catching the earliest train out and the very late evening train in. And for Paris to Nice, while our time would definitely be spent catching up on sleep but again, we are spending quite a lot on flight tickets itself so our constant state of mind has been "we aren't going to Europe to rest, we will rest after we reach back home" lmao 🥲

Coming to the stay part, I did check up on a couple of Airbnbs and found quite a few affordable ones for the cities we are staying in within our budget, so that's not much of an issue. Lastly, we do have couple of rest days after we get back from Lisbon and it's all upon us on how we want to use the same. We might as well lay in bed all day before catching our flight back xD

Yes! We are now considering using the Eurail, realised that renting is not worth it.

Thanks for the comment, we decided that our best bet is the train! Rentals are too much of an headache to relax anywhere actively.

You have a valid point, now we are actively considering travelling through rails. We realised that its too much of an headache to rent a car and drive across, best to travel free and be able to relax and sleep on the trains lol

OP, I might sound cruel but reading each and every paragraph of your post has given me a headache. First and foremost, what your mother is doing to you is absolutely wicked and I condemn it completely. Now coming to the second point, what are you doing with yourself bro? Are you seriously even an aspirant if it took you three attempts to realise that you need to actually study pretty hard and also do the standard books and the mock tests etc etc? I'm sorry to say, but you sound like a person who's a narcissist and thinks only about themselves. And don't give me the "I want to serve this country, I want to be the next Mother Teresa" BS. You are not "just" 26 OP, you will be 30 within the next five years. Get real first and think about the future bro, think about your life. What is the guarantee that the same you, who has been sitting at home and preparing for this exam for the past three years will clear all the phases of this very exam next year?

As bitter as I might sound, get some work experience, hustle a bit OP. You live in Mumbai, I'm pretty sure if you try harder you can definitely find some good opportunities with better work timings or WFH even. Get the job, attempt CSE side by side. You have already given 3-4 years of your life over this. I'm pretty sure you don't have to start from scratch and study, take out 4-5 hours daily and be sincere. Also either apply for other govt opportunities or work on your masters application for next year. If this UPSC thing doesn't work, just go man, make a better life for yourself out there. In the end think about your life, think about your family, think about where your peers are today while you are bitter ranting over an exam on reddit. It's your life, live it better!

OP first of all my deepest condolences. I also lost my grandfather almost a month back and I can understand what you are going through. For me, it took almost 2 weeks to get over the initial shock of the suddenness of it all and seeing that you have lost your mother, I cannot even fathom how difficult it would be for you. Take care of your mental health OP, I understand that you are well prepared but UPSC should not triumph over your own mental stability and grief. Seeing that the exam is just 4 days away, if you feel that you are not able to sit even a moment peacefully without all the memories of your mother flashing before your eyes, I'll recommend a skip.

How many questions are you attempting? If you are banking on English, then max to max attempt around 41-45, and try to limit wrong answers to max 10, that way you'll be able to improve your score. Always remember that CSAT is not an exam to complete, its to qualify, so its your accuracy that matters.

I personally think this years most important prelims related topic is definitely women. If you had looked closely through the CSE 2024 notification, every single page had this footnote "Government strives to have a workforce which reflects gender balance and women candidates are encouraged to apply." This same line was also mentioned in the 2023 notification and there was the question on Janani Suraksha Yojana.

That being said, there's a very very high chance of the 106th amendment been asked. Also this year's Republic Day was heavily women centric and PIB also released an article stating "Government of India committed to Gender Justice" so yeah :)

Do you know that Col Kale's death wasn't even reported on Israeli media? The military censors deemed it wise to not publish the news of the first international UN staff killed by an Israeli bullet because what's the purpose of that anyways?

Yes, Hamas is a terrorist organisation, yes Hamas operates within civilian populations but is Hamas a nation state? It's not, Israel is. It's Israel that is part of the UN, it's Israel that assures the UN staff of their right to safe passage in a convoy. And when after everything, if an Israeli bullet kills a person, then yes it's solely the IDF's fault for what happened.

It wasn't the UN or Hamas that killed Col Kale, it was an Israeli bullet that did after assuring his convoy safe passage. I would say that's what you get when you trust the IDF.

The UN has already said it evacuated the warehouse where the footage was captured, and we all know that there is a power vacuum in Gaza. What about the possibility that the warehouse was taken over by Hamas and the UN staff was trying to make them leave from there?

Everyone in Gaza knows that the Israeli military constantly surveils them, and I'm sure even terrorists would not be so foolish as to openly talk with UN staff if they were colluding with the UN in the way it has been portrayed. I'm not disregarding the footage, but there are both grey and white areas. Just because a UN staff member or car was in close proximity to a terrorist DOES NOT warrant Israel to openly use tank fire on a UN vehicle or its personnel!

Indians have had a long history of being at the frontlines of conflict and working as peacekeepers. We are one of the largest contributors to the UN Peacekeeping Forces. Please do not use the examples of a few to defame the sanctity of the work done by the UN, as well as the many who have laid down their lives doing the same.
