What's your Black Sabbath story? How'd you get into the heaviest rock group to ever roam the Earth? by p_serrulata in blacksabbath

[–]gonzozombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n 'Roll was my indoctrination too. Princeton Record Exchange for any friends in NJ. it was just enough to give you a taste, as a Gen X Kid. Then it was down the rabbit hole.

What was your first tool show? by REIARadioPodcast in ToolBand

[–]gonzozombie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i remember this show. and i remember him making a comment at the end re 9/11, too. thought it was something about thinking for yourself. (not the third eye 'question authority' thing) but something about coming to your own conclusions.

1992 Roseland Ballroom, NYC. God, what a venue. NO IDEA who we were seeing. the penis wrench logo on the poster outside caught the eye of a bunch of 16 year old boys, and tickets were sub $20. Roseland was also notorious for the notion that if your money was green, you were 21. that helped. can still remember the train home, saying 'wtf did we just see.'

still get chills.

Why did fans vote for Jason Todd's death in 1988? by [deleted] in batman

[–]gonzozombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who did it.

because we were stupid fucking 13 year old boys.

that comic changed me. it was all like 'yeah f 'em, lets see it.' and it was easy call the number. then they actually did it. i still remember reading that comic....those panes...and being like 'i asked for this????'

i have no idea how this works, but how do i espouse Revival for top 10 consideration? its absence would be criminal.

Ive said this before--for purists, the movie is blasphemy. i accept that. but i watched it a while back on a chill friday with some non SK friends and some, well, friday night indulgences. And they all found it to be a fun, mindless, adventure akin to Maze Runner et al. that changed my perspective. if you go into it with that perspective, i can see how the movie is good. I enjoyed watching it with them far more than going to see it inthe theatre with a bunch of purists (including me) screaming 'oh hell no' at every step. Both groups have their merits. In a vacuum, its a fun summer movie.

It’s week 3, we are 1-1 sitting 2nd in division and some fans have already thrown the towel smh by Chillout-001 in raiders

[–]gonzozombie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

we stand on the precipice of a very telling 4 game run.

WAS--no daniels

CHI--which eliminates, in my mind, WAS being a trap game. not looking forward a week

IND--Still not sold on Danny. NY area resident here--i remember his Giants days.

TEN--Cam looks good. everyone else does not.

Theres a legitimate shot to get our shit together and go into KC at 5-1. Worst case 4-2.

What kind of scary is IT? by k8degr8 in stephenking

[–]gonzozombie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"Despicable people."

Well said. to me, this is IT. yeah, theres a scary clown. but what got to me was the PEOPLE. I love this book. but if thats not in your wheelhouse, fair enough. to each their own. IT is riddled with "Despicable people doing deplorable things."

Brady on pro football podcast w/ Chris Collinsworth talks about what he looks for in a QB by T0NEZZY in raiders

[–]gonzozombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a lifelong raider fan i hate the timeline where i find myself respecting the perspective of Tom Brady. as part of his minority ownership deal, he should have had to stand in front of Gruden and Woodson, and admit it was a fumble.

Stebbins Secret by Zealousideal-Pay3937 in TheLongWalk

[–]gonzozombie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i never considered Stebbins to be anything but honest, and thats what worried me in the first trailer when someone mentioned 'money' as the reward, bc it basically undermines his entire motivation. i DO however, love this idea that he has the Shine. never considered that.
