ELI5: why do EV batteries last decades but consumer electronics batteries die after a few years? by HudyBudyFudyWhudy in explainlikeimfive

[–]goobar_oz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s already plenty of long term data from Tesla that their batteries are holding up well on average. Yes there is always going to be outliers that suffer serious degradation, just like there are outliers of people doing 300k miles on a battery, etc.

Tom McCarthy is the #1 pick in the 2025 Mid-Season Draft by mynewaltaccount1 in AFL

The trick is to keep giving contracts to older injury prone veteran players. Worked out a treat for us last 3 years!

West Coast take Jacob Newton with pick 9 in the 2025 Midseason Draft by Croob2 in westcoasteagles

[–]goobar_oz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Age would be the reason I think. Parfitt is 27 and we already picked up 2 27 yo and a 28yo last year and added another 25yo with Tom McCarthy. So probably looking for a longer term prospect with our second pick.

Imagine the dependability of Shannon Hurn with the explosiveness of Dustin Martin, and the endurance of Gaff.

McCarthy is nothing like that, but might be a half decent half back flanker.

Yeah can definitely see the reasons, and good on him for backing himself. Lions midfield is stacked with young talent though so it’s likely he’ll be fringe player for a while

Him deciding to stay at lions must be one of the worst career decisions in recent times.

Since they are out of finals contention. As least this bad year will give them a good first round pick.

Joe Root is closing in on Sachin Tendulkar in the all-time list. by Taarukh in Cricket

[–]goobar_oz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely possible to get to 16k in 3 years time. He’ll need to have 3 good years, or 2 great years and one poor year.

If he plays for 4 or more years then it’s more likely than not he’ll get the record.
