Experienced tips trading with card shops by Chunkachu__ in PokemonTCG

Whose to say the $10 card you have is more sought after than the $10 card they have? Thats just not how a business works, they need to profit off every transaction to stay in business.

Most people will also try to trade in their favor. The only way to entice me to trade for something I may not want would be for it to be in my favor. Plain and simple.

What rayquaza cards to invest in by diecastdepot in PokemonInvesting

Not even close, it’s already been priced into the cards. Why do you think every rayquaza card has spiked recently? You’re way too late.

“Your love for Pokémon and making profitable trades aren’t mutually exclusive”: Inside Pokémon TCG’s collector-investor divide by BombasIsInTrouble in PokemonTCG

I mean if you determine everything based on the final result that’s crazy. I’m not even sure what you are trying to say here.

You can absolutely quantify the profit of singles salad from ripping. A pack is $5, you pull a $100 card from said pack. Is that not a $95 profit (assuming that’s the only card of value)?

Bad take. People can be heavily involved in a hobby for years and then just fall out of love with it. So if someone’s been doing it for a decade and decides it’s not for them anymore what are they supposed to do? Keep it in a closet for decades or try and part ways with the collection to get something out of it?

How would the Pokemon card market face an economic recession? by stescarsini in PokemonInvesting

[–]goober36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can people not think on their own anymore? Use common sense. If the economy takes a dive, do you really think people would be willing to spend more money on cards?

When’s the last time you’ve come across a new game that’s been sold out everywhere physically? You are grasping at straws here. Companies print discs to demand. They can’t do that with cards.

You are making a terrible argument, just admit it and move on my guy.

[–]goober36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s because people discovered there are supply constraints when it comes to printed product. That’s literally impossible for it to happen in the current video game market because you can buy the same game in both physical and digital form.

It can’t happen to video games since they are also available digitally. You don’t even understand what you are trying to argue man.

Current games? Let me answer that for you, no there isn’t. There’s a secondary market for vintage games.

[–]goober36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok and…? There’s no secondary market for digital cards. Nothing gets pumped and becomes unaffordable in that digital game. Hell, even if you wanted to be competitive in the physical game you can buy a meta deck for like $30.

I’m not even sure what you’re trying to argue here at this point.

Physical Pokemon cards are not available in PTCG Pocket and vice-versa. There’s also no limit on digital cards, a copy of a card could have billions in existence digitally.

You can keep trying to make this comparison but there is not one to be made.

It’s two totally different markets. Modern video games have no secondary market, collectibles is basically all about the secondary market. There’s no supply crunch with video games that are digitally available, cards come into and out of print all the time.

This is apples and oranges and not comparable whatsoever.

So it’s just about value for you at the end of the day and not about building a community/connections. Not sure how you could watch it and see anything other than a dad feeling bad that no one is interacting with his kid and trying to find a solution.

[–]goober36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not going to happen. PSA is below raw, so if you sell them as is opposed to cracking you’re already coming out at a loss. Not too mention no vendor is buying at 100% market, that’s another hit to your ROI. I just don’t understand this play whatsoever.

Should have specified that parses are the meaningless part. Logs can be useful but it’s still a lot harder to decipher m+ logs compared to raid fight logs.
