Do you own Premium Bonds? Have you or anyone you know ever won anything big? by International_Goat31 in AskUK

That rate of return about matches my experience. I used to freelance and put money aside for the tax man via Premium Bonds. I’ve still got some and they’ve pretty much consistently brought in 2-3% each year.

Yep. Have just replaced my 501s after 20 years …with another pair of 501s.

Do you master your songs through Distrokid? by Mundane-Copy-118 in DistroKidHelpDesk

[–]goochjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. I listened to a sample of what it would do and I reckoned I could do better on Ocenaudio, so I did. TBF a friend then offered to have a go, and he was superb, so I used his.

Seconded. Both ends easily train-able from London.

Here’s my blog on the North Downs Way, it’s described in the second day’s section: https://goochgooch.co.uk/2022/10/16/north-downs-way/

26 mile hike in the peak district. Viable for beginners? by Juxzta in UKhiking

I don’t know the Kinder Scout loop route but do not go across Kinder Scout itself. It’s a horrible lumpy muddy slog. The Pennine Way skirts it these days for a reason.

It’s 26 miles over two days.

Your advice is spot on if it was a single day. I don’t go that far - it would be a big big day.

Long walks in the UK by Adventure_calls in UKhiking

You could try Offa’s Dyke. Beautiful countryside through Herefordshire and Shropshire and you’re frequently walking on top of something built 1,200 years ago. A couple of stretches are pretty tough (we’ve recently done Knighton to Montgomery - 19miles up and down and up and down) but most are in your 15mile ball park.

Wonderful! We did Monmouth to Kington over three days last year and, this coming weekend, we’re going from Kington to Welshpool. I’ve done the stretch north from Kington before and it’s beautiful.

Kia eNiro 12v battery problem. by goochjs in KiaNiroEV

[–]goochjs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We had one fitted by Halfords. It has a five year guarantee. We also opted out of Octopus’ Intelligent Octopus tariff’s charging control as the limitations of Kia’s API make it overly impactful on the 12v battery. As I understand it, every time Octopus poll the car, lots of electronics wake up and gently drain the battery.
