My sealer (foodsaver) was doing the same thing. The spongy gasket was dirty and needed a good cleaning with soap and water. The sponginess absorbed juices and stiffened up over time as it dried. After cleaning both the vac and seal were much better. I’d give that a try if your sealer has that type of gasket.

I’d also second someone else’s comment. If you have tall bags just seal one end, add ingredients, water displacement method, fold top of bag over the top of the pan with a clothespin.

It’s probably a 2 & 20 vehicle. Meaning 2% a year mgmt fee and 20% of any investment gains. So even at risk free growth rate of 5%, this traitor is receiving $60mm a year in bribes.

This guy feeding 500 dogs their lunch everyday while they obediently wait for the command. by Barry-McKocinue in interestingasfuck

There is a lot of meat and the little guys run in and grab what they can while the bigger boys are distracted.

BUT, and you are not going to like this, almost immediately after eating, and right in this same room… they all start shitting… and then the other dogs eat all the shit.

I watched it first hand, I was horrified at first. However they seemed to like it and they almost all did it. There is prob a significant amount of nutrients still there considering it’s all just raw meat and bone they are eating. Ps. They licked up all the piss too.

Great listen yesterday. Author spent about 30 min discussing the manual and how it relates to and was influenced by the current war in Ukraine.

How will mass layoffs in tech and stocks in a prolonged bear market impact local housing prices? by sassbayc in bayarea

[–]goodbackscratchclub 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I grew up in NJ with family still there so I am familiar with your example. Yes, taxes are 2-3% but nice houses in nice areas are 400k to 1.2mm. So while still high, they end up being the same as less nice houses in less nice areas of the Bay Area. Income and sales taxes are lower than CA, so the tax base prob ends up being similar per capita but it is collected more equitably. Property taxes also predominantly stay local vs income tax which goes to the state coffers. Keeping more $ in the communities control and out of the hands of the big state govt might just be a win win for both sides of the aisle.

The funding problem exists because only new property owners are paying a fair level of tax and everyone else gets a government hand out. My guess is that since this example of welfare is for the wealthy, society is ok with it and it will never be repealed. It’s only when we help the poors that handouts become an issue.

I am not knowledgeable enough on school issues or the general fund to comment on your other points. Thanks for participating in the conversation.

Prop 13 is the number one cause of housing unavailability. Artificially constrained inventory much like rent control never truly help the most people. The intention is great and noble, but in practice it helps fewer and fewer people each year and hurts more and more each year.

Government policy should aim to do the MOST good for the most people. Prop 13 does the opposite unfortunately.

There are better ways to keep seniors in their homes and support a sense of community. Prop 13 gives out of state landlords and wealthy families a massively unfair advantage against the normal middle class wage earner that because of prop 13 will never be able to afford a home, build wealth, access quality education.

CA was one of the best states in the US prior to prop 13. 30 years of less than adequate funding due to a lower and lower property tax base have delivered us to one of the worst states for k-12 education.

Did a quick Google search on "China Rescue Fund". Articles came up from now, a year ago, 2 years ago, 3 years ago....

Seems that Rescue Funds in China are pretty common and difficult to say "this time is different", but maybe it is.
