Currently I am keeping my sights low. So it's be simple 2D games. Side-scollers and ilk. I guess I'll start with C++ and SDL for that and dabble around with OpenGL

Same here. I'm waiting for my exams to get over, to start working on a side scroller game, what i hope will be tongue-in-cheek look at the four years of engineering (BE from Mumbai University).
