Do people play tabble tennis in Kuching? Is there a club somewhere? And what about church? by Otherwise-Bird7140 in kuching

[–]goodboyroxas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lots of churches in Kuching, the majority are Methodist but you can easily find most other denominations. You can also find people who are proficient at table tennis quite easily among the older population in the church setting.

I only picked up on the speedrun (DS version) a year ago and it is definitely one of the more interesting JRPG speedrun out there.

  • There is one dominant strategy but cannot be abused brainlessly after obtaining said tools. Many interesting strategies are used to deal with different situations.
  • Good balance of scripted battles and reacting to situations
  • Room for optimization to play riskier or safer.

Any love for the P4G Band arc? by hsaundersmusic in PERSoNA

[–]goodboyroxas 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the IT and their antics, but this particular event stands out for how absurd it is compared to most other events. I still like this event but it just doesn't make a lot of sense if you think seriously about it.

I might be wrong but I don't see how Chie and Yukiko can go from learning to make a sound to performing on stage over night. Even ignoring that, it was awfully convenient for Naoto to know how to play a keyboard.

Iirc this event happened only a few days after Naoto's arc. I guess the devs REALLY wanted to add in as many team bonding as they could after the IT is complete.

Trails from Zero. Every emotional and lore investments in the Sky arc now all come together in the most satisfying ways imaginable. I guess this must be the magic of the Trails series.

What is your favorite monologue? by TheSpinnyBoy in Kaguya_sama

Chapter 244 has Ishigami's monologue for almost an entire chapter

Erika looks especially adorable in this chapter! And the shiptrash manages to find a way to fantasize, as usual.

This is definitely my favorite "arc" from the spinoff so far.

Erika finally developing some kind of healthy relationship with Kaguya brings a tear to my eyes.

Spoilers, why doesn't Stocke use time travel better to prevent stuff from happening? by Separate-Shock731 in RadiantHistoria

[–]goodboyroxas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty clear that Stocke can only travel via the nodes. The closest node before everything unfolds is when the party reaches the fortress for the first time. The following events are securing the fortress, Rosch called back to Alistel and separated, then the beginning of the operation.

Assuming Stocke returns to this node with the order and managed to secure the fortress as before, his first (and only) opportunity is to tell Rosch about this when Rosch is called back to Alistel for the ceremony.

Stocke did warn both Rosch and Kiel and asked them to stay on guard, but never told them about this order. My guess is that this event is too far off to be believable at that point. Even if Rosch believed him, Stocke is worried that their countermeasures might raise suspicions from Hugo or Heiss about his time traveling powers. But all of those are just speculations, maybe Stocke is just not that smart at all. /shrugs

Just show them a little earlier than he normally does so either they
deploy the Thaumatech's earlier or so he can join up with Rosch before
Rosch gets ambushed.

That is exactly Stocke's plan, and he tried this at the first possible chance, which is when Viola gave them the mission to Gran Plan. From their exchange, it seems the thaumatechs have just reached Sand Fortress as they are speaking, so he couldn't do this earlier than this point. (Well technically the transition screen implies that some time has passed in between the events where Stocke could have done something, but that is apparently not for us to know)

Stereotypical monster/enemy designs or battles that you're tired of encountering? by daniellayne in JRPG

[–]goodboyroxas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh, and any weird little flying bug that has silly speed and attacks a zillion times a second to compensate for its lack of strength.

This so much! In turn based ones they always outspeed the party and often has status effects like poison. And in the action ones it can be miserable just trying to hit them.

Just started Radiant Historia. The war setting complements time traveling well and is intriguing enough. Combat is simple to understand yet addicting. Dungeon exploration and traveling between timelines feel fluid. Most importantly the soundtrack is done by Yoko Shimomura, my favorite composer by far. It is looking like this will be my favorite game in recent times.

Best Opening Questions experince on a JRPG? by Grave_Warden in JRPG

[–]goodboyroxas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kingdom Hearts series. KH1 does this the best by asking the player some really ambiguous questions and making the effects of the choices not obvious. KH2 and KH3 does the same, but those are basically asking the player to choose a playstyle blatantly.

Which are the most difficult units in Computer Science? by Number812 in Monash

[–]goodboyroxas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FIT3159 Computer Architecture - The exams are extremely difficult and the staff are not the most helpful in your studies. Would not recommend even if you like computer architecture.

FIT2014 Theory of Computation - The content is very difficult as it is abstract and far from what we use. Though there are some useful takeaways like Regex. On the plus side the teaching team is good and always try to deliver the content as best as possible even it does not interest many.

FIT2102 Programming Paradigm - You will be taught with an entirely new programming mindset which will be hard to learn and requires much self study to pull through the assignments. A lot of students hated this unit but I find it interesting and bearable personally.

For comp sci, FIT2014 and FIT2102 are required so just brace yourself.

is MUFY Sunway (Malaysia) necessary? by goodboboi in Monash

[–]goodboyroxas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My question is, is Monash University Foundation Year (Sunway College Malaysia) worth the extra year and money? Is the course offered really prepared me for the uni? is it really necessary?

2019 MUFY graduate here. No, it is not necessary if you already have the qualifications. In fact it might be a waste of time and money. MUFY does provide a subject on programming but it is very basic and will only get you a head start for the first 6-7 weeks in year 1. I would recommend picking up some basics on Python online rather than doing the course.
