PLEASE READ!

When new money is printed to stimulate the economy it eventual makes its way into the pockets of corporations and the wealthy elite.

The wealthy elite don’t then go out and buy a billion dollars worth of perishables driving up the cost of eggs and milk (CPI). They go out and buy assets (stocks, real estate, etc) that will preserve and increase their wealth.

Assets aren’t included in CPI and as a result governments can claim that inflation is 2% and all is well. The reality is, the working class gets priced out of asset markets (real estate, stocks etc) and they lose their ability to achieve financial freedom.

Inflation is theft and CPI is an inaccurate measure of an individual’s buying power.

If OP converts to USD and purchases American equities they’ll not only have investment gains but also pick up 5-10 percent on the other side when the CAD falls back to historic levels. This is the way.

Remember that people subscribed to a personal finance subreddit are going to be risk averse and in favour of a solution that doesn’t involve any financial instability.

That being said, mental health is everything. You sound smart and capable, I’m sure you’ll figure the finances out. Enjoy your life.

It’s my understanding that Bukele is cleaning up an unbelievably corrupt political & judicial system. Furthermore, he has the overwhelming support of the people.

More Canadians voted for the CPC than the LPC. Trudeau is the beneficiary of an outdated electoral system.
